stop blowing smoke will you?
What kind of proof do you have that the criminals have not been caught?
If you can't prove it, I'll take Liz's word for it that the Police have caught them.
I'm not sure if this post is a serious one or not. I do go to Bonaire Talk to read about restaurants, reviews on places to stay etc, but just try to bring up the subject of crime and talk about a crime that has taken place and your conversation is quickly squashed. In order to talk about being a victim of crime you must have filed a police report. So who is going to file a police report if you have some minor things stolen from a vehicle? Really no one. So you can't even go to Bonaire Talk and say you had something stolen from your vehicle because they will remove it.
Bonaire Talk is a wealth of information about some things but to describe it as being the "true scoop" and "objective" is a good laugh.
But you don't understand. In this alternative reality world anyone, and everyone who has the slightest financial interest is automatically a bold face liar, and conspiring with the police and the theives to entrap more victims! :mooner:
Any anyone who's opinion is not as dramatically "hate Bonaire, fear Bonaire", also, has secretly invested in a tourist trap or travel agency, so is also automatically dispensing pure propaganda.
Logic is not applicable in this alternative reality. Sorry.

Prove a negative?
Not anymore. The moderators have changed the policy on having to have police reports. Now, if there is a crime, the person who was the victim can post the crime without a police report. ---snip----" There is a very active thread on this right now.
New member, 1st post... hmmm... I'll take it for what it's worth..I am now on Bonaire for the fourth time. The crime appears to have gotten worse over the years. This is the first time I have seen broken window glass at EVERY SINGLE SITE I have been to so far. You can not even wear sunglasses to the dive site anymore. I surfaced on Red Beryll yesterday to find mine stolen from the truck. At least they left my wife's prescription glasses or she would have been blind for the rest of the trip.
I have yet to see one police car on the road in 12 days.
I guess the state does not really care about maintaining law and order here on Bonaire. Maybe they can charge divers a special "crime prevention fee" for police protection, like the marine park fee of 25 dollars or the airport exit fee of 35 dollars? Perhaps someone will make a special sunglasses attachment for BCDs and market it here on lawless Bonaire.
In summary, I am very disappointed with the lack of visible authority on this island. They also appear to have a street racing problem on the island, as evidenced by all the skid marks and noise of racing cars in the wee hours of the morning keeping us awake some nights.
Next year I will pass on Bonaire and go to a secure resort in Cozumel.
