Heading to Cozumel from 12/26-1/2 and was curious what other divers use for wetsuits that time of year. I saw on the FAQ sticky that water temps are 78-80 so I was thinking about just a 2-3mm shorty. I have a full 3mm, that is a little too tight (getting old and fatter, LOL!)

I'll be there the same time I was there last March when the water was unseasonably cool in the 78-80 range. I get cold easily and I wore a Lavacore vest under my 2.5mil suit and a Neosport 2mil zippered vest on top and was nice and toasty.

Holy crap! The only time we've worn a 7 mm farmer john/jane was a for a February dive in Puget Sound with the water at a typical 42 degrees. We did get cold.

I'm elderly and skinny. And am underwater for a long time...

Thanks for the tips, hopefully there will be some good black friday sales and I can find a good deal on something.

I'd be wearing my full 5 mm and would have my 5/3 hooded vest with me. I would make sure I had a boat coat, either one of the operator's (several supply them), or my own. I hate being cold

Bought Sharkskin pants today from Prime for $139.00..fit and feel are nice. I've never needed to wear anything other than a rash shirt, so this will be interesting come December...I'll still be wearing just a rash shirt on top.

The bottom line here is whatever makes you comfortable, and that is different for everyone.

I'll just throw this in again... no matter what anyone buys for skins and suits and such, BUY A TROPIC BEANIE in that 2-3MM range. For $20 or something it will do so much keeping you warm. Also, as soon as you purchase the beanie, if it doesn't have a vent hole on top (most none do) right away heat up a nail on your stove and melt a tiny vent hole in the top of the beanie around the rear top of your head. I know this seems strange to take a brand new beanie and melt/poke a hot hole in it but if you don't, you'll be looking for a nail and lighter in cozumel to do just that as I did when you find it is trapping air.

Wow, I must be doing something wrong or right. 4 dives, 72 on the bottom here in Tampa Bay last week and I was in a full 3 mil and felt great. 80 degrees and I'd be in a long sleeve moisture wicking shirt and fishing pants.

Are you guys staying in your suit during your surface interval? IME, That'll suck the heat right out of you.
