First wetsuit purchase - 3mm or 5mm or??

I would suggest a 3mm suit and Lavacore hooded vest you can put on if you start feeling chilled. This gives some versatility and layered options. It's always good to have a 5mm for colder locations and again the vest improves the range.
 
Thanks everyone for the advice! In the end the sales and fit partly decided it for me - I went for a Bare Elate 5mm (the only brand I've tried that truly caters to tall slim/long limbed women!) and snagged a cheapie 3mm long as well. But I think I'll take the 5mm on this trip. Thanks again!
 
Good choice. I was about to chime in with another 5mm recommendation. My 5mm would work in everything from no suit needed all the way to time to be in a drysuit.
