yes

well, not a full suit, but with my 3mm jacket (long sleeves and short legs)
but that's one thing I like about the Farmer John style...the front sipper makes venting it very easy.

OK, everyone is different I guess. I was just wearing a 5+5mm (i.e. 10mm on torso) farmer john style suit in 29 degree C water and wasn't too hot. I don't think any ocean gets any warmer than that at depth. I can't remember the last SCUBA dive I did in a 3mm suit, but I wouldn't have been very happy!

I dive pretty much exactly the conditions you described, and have settled on a 2/3mm shorty wetsuit and (especially!) a thin hood. This combo keeps me warm down to the low 70F's and I'm pretty temperature sensitive. I tried all the combinations... full length, farmer johns, vests, hooded vests, you name it... and this is the best combo for year round "tropical" style diving with the lowest possible bulk and maximum flexibility and comfort.

The shorty goes on and off in seconds while not hampering your elbows and knees. The only downside of the hood is it affects underwater hearing a bit, but it's worth it.

What I carry for warm water (Florida, Carib etc):

1. Bare 3mm long sleeve shorty (front two way zipper from neck to left leg full length)
2. Scubapro neoprene shorts
3. Henderson Hyperflex 3mm vest
4. 3mm beanie type caps, usually two because I can never erase find just one
5. Water shoe type, low cut, 3mm booties, cheap ones because I tend to toss them after a few trips
6. Several snug fitting long sleeve rash guards (Bare) for use alone or under the above
7. Several neck gaiters, as long a length as I can find, to go over my head, neck, hair (beanie goes on top of them)

yes, and it would have been a long time ago. I'm much more cold-natured nowadays.
I don't recall the exact circumstances but I think I remember a few times unzipping and being hot.
And I know I've dove here in Florida the summer many times with nothing but board shorts and my BC.

I just checked, windy.com is reporting 87°F to 88°F seawater temp right now in Florida. Pretty close to your 29°C. That would probably have been about the temp I was unzipping in for sure....and I cannot imagine diving in a 5mm FJ and jacket here in the summer!
well, maybe on a very long run-time tech dive.....
