if I am using a table saw, and cut a finger tip off, like a friend of mine did, I am not going to say it is the manufacturers fault for not telling me I shouldn't be using the table saw while watching the neighbors cat.

yes I was thinking about the domestic garage door. While I agree that a lot of rules in the US and in Canada are pretty ridiculous and not common sense at all and are just there for the lawyers to make living and generally promote absence of the common sense and situation awareness, you can shot me but I will not agree with you on that domestic garage door

Well, there was someone just a block from my house who viciouslly assualted their Domestice Garage Door with the a$$ end of their car. It was a horrible and tragic site. Not only was the Door ripped to shreds but a sizable portion of the garage side wall was broke free from the main structure.

I've since wondered what that door did to deserve such a horrific death.

Sadly the assalant was never charged with anything other than higher insurance premiums!

While I do see your point Elan, I have worked in the are of robotic installations where we had to engineer in quadruple safety redundancy JUST IN CASE someone was stupic enough to get pass the first three (which was impossible). How far do we have to take it? Children do things because they do not know better. As adults, we SHOULD know better or perhaps it is time to add chlorine to the gene pool.

You mean like me bypassing all the safeties on my riding lawnmower that wont let it start while the blades are engaged, wont let it start in gear, or that kill the engine if you get off the seat with it in gear or with the blades engaged? Sure, I know better, but all those safety features are soooo inconvenient!
