I live about 30 minutes south and do not plan on staying over night. I only offered the hotel info because I live near by and scuba_jenny was asking for some info. Whoever plans on staying over should post a head count and whether they plan on staying friday and/or saturday. That way a total count can be found and a group rate may take place. I can help out with other local information and will stay up in Venice if we all decide to go and hang out somewhere for some food and drinks, but someone planning on staying there should be making the guest list.

It sounds like you all will have a great time. If I hadn’t of made plans to come down in September. I would make every effort to be there. I have been coming down to Venice for the past 8 years. But I have never been to Venice beach. We stay on Casey Keys. This thread answers a lot of my question. Are there divers at the beach most days? I will be down for a week and my wife doesn’t dive. The one thing I like about this board. You can most always find the info you want. Thanks to a great bunch of divers.

I checked into the hotels and found that the one at exit 193 (the one you'll use to get to dive location) is a Best Western Ambassador Suites. It's a fairly new hotel and the rates seemed to be around $60 for 1 queen bed to about $80 for 2 beds.

Go to www.BestWestern.com and search for hotels in Venice. If someone can come up with a head count and the number of rooms they may give a lower group rate.

There is another Best western in Venice Beach that is on the beach, it costs a little more, but if I'm going to drive that far to be at the beach I wanna stay at the beach as well you know.

That Best Western is right on the beach and when I checked the prices were higher of course. But I guess if you can find some one to split the bill it would be the same if not cheaper to stay there. A little further north up the road is a great place to eat called the "Crow's Nest" it over looks the Venice Inlet. Prices are on the higher end but the food is always good when I've eaten there.

LOL, I've been to a number of Venice beach parties over the yrs but my Venice Beach is in So Cal. Every time I see this thread I have a double take as the California Venice Beach is known for many things but diving just isnt one of them.

Hey, Bill - me too! I grew up in the south bay and lived in Manhattan Beach for a while. Venice is a *serious* freak show. I'll bet you can find shark teeth, tho... you can find ANYTHING else there lol

I'm enjoying much better diving here in Florida now, but I miss LA too!

Mike, not too much has changed. There is after all only One Venice Beach. Its just a party there non stop. For myself I like the waters in this area, probably because I grew up here and the kelp is like home to me.
