Yah, I had some TX 100s but sent them back. The DS4s work fine on steel tanks. I didn't anticipate a problem with Al tanks...didn't factor in the short neck problem.

Here are the options that I have come up with:

Leave the DS4s tilted and just deal with a slghtly short backup.

Get a longer backup hose.

See if my OMS manifold will sit the DS4s up a bit higher off the shoulder of the tank.

Find some used TX 100s.

Refit a pair of Seaquest XR2s to DIN.

Oh, by the way, the right post can be set horizontal with very little stress put on the hoses.

You might want to consider a Genesis manifold over the OMS one. It has a tilted face design, that will definitely solve the problem of the hoses hitting the tank shoulder because of the short tank neck. They are more prone to hitting your regs on overheads though because they put the regs out high up in front - if you're not doing overhead this shouldn't be a problem....

...hmmm, typing that just gave me a brilliant idea that's unrelated to your problem that I'm not willing to share right now :)

Yah, this set up is for dry...open...ocean...boat.

Genesis...hmm...

Any tips on where I might find one and do you know if it will match up with Highland 725s. The Highland website suggests that they will. I was thinking OMS because I have one deep in the scuba closet...I think! Seal type shouldn't matter given open water use only.

Try the usual online sources... LP carries Genesis gear from memory... seen them on eBay occasionally as well.

The doubles I've used are loaners from a buddy - no idea what bands are compatable I'm afraid.

Don't go to an inferior manifold. All you have to do is tilt your first stages a little bit and get a new backup hose. Changing the manifold is far from optimum.

I used this same configuration for a long time. O-ring uses it. Thousands of people use it.

Which - the Genesis or the OMS? Never heard of a problem with the quality of Genesis valves (apart from the tilt design in overheads - my Vytec transmitter has a nice Yukon-shaped ding in it), but I've heard of crappy OMS manifolds before with manufacturing defects...

???

Either one really. if I had to use one of them i'd use the OMS. The Genesis/Sherwood, by angling up like that, puts your first stages in a position more vulnerable to being banged around on the environment, particularly in overheads. I think most divers who use manifolded doubles are using them in at least semi-overhead environments.

He's already using the best manifold on the market.

Sherwood makes nice knobs though...
