When are we doing the dive again? :)

Well, this dam#*& wind needs to die down for a while.... I don't like risking my camera getting back on the boat in big seas.
But I would love to do it soon....If it was nicer tommorow, I could have talked Jimmy Abernethy into going( he is in town at the moment), but as of now, we are assuming it is a better day for land based activities :-(

Vis was 80 there today and pretty many sharks... We were snorkeling.

Edit: Yesterday, but not my video..

Also, Guy determined that he needs a 40 cu-ft pony bottle for a 130 ft dive? Yet he is concerned with weight? For no deco dives in 130, in a high current environment especially, I see little reason to take a bottle that large. I would choose a 13, but certainly a 19 should get you from the bottom to the top.

We've been throught these calculatons so many times on SB. For many or us, a 19 is more than adequate for anything within recreational limits.

Best, Craig

A couple comments..

28 litres/min SCR, with 39meters ( 4.9ATA) depth NDL with one minute stops every 3 meters to surface:

4.9 x 28 x 1 = 137.2
4.6 x 28 x 1 = 128.8
4.3 x 28 x 1 = 120.4
4.0 x 28 x 1 = 112
3.7 x 28 x 1 = 103.6
3.4 x 28 x 1 = 95.2
3.1 x 28 x 1 = 86.8
2.8 x 28 x 1 = 78.4
2.5 x 28 x 1 = 70
2.2 x 28 x 1 = 61.6
1.9 x 28 x 1 = 53.2
1.6 x 28 x 1 = 44.8
1.3 x 28 x 1 = 36.4
1.0 x 28 x 1 = 28

Sum Total: 1156.4 litres gas needed for one person to ascend to surface from 39m depth for an emergency contingency with a reasonable conservative deco profile/ascent rate, breathing "NDL" Recreational Trimix ..

A 5.5L cylinder (AL40 "pony bottle") filled to 200 bar pressure supplies 1100 litres.

Except a diver that takes that long to get out of the water, is forcing everyone to wait for them...it is a behavior to be discouraged.

Maybe your boat dive-mates should be encouraged appreciated their extended surface interval ;-)

One minute stop every 10 feet... what the heck is that? An emergency ascent from a no-deco dive?

Yes! Also review in the context of post#49:

To the OP: recommend instead taking the full training path to normoxic Trimix deco diving - in conventional manifolded doubles. . .

I dunno maybe skip all this Helium business and get a scooter so you don't have to huff and puff on a single 130cf at 120ft?

If it takes that long to come up when using a little helium, then I am way safer on 31% nitrox at 130 ft.... and a small pony

130 ft @ EAN31 is 1.53 PO2 !!

Harry Callahan: I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
