Hi Lives4Sharks,

Needless to say, there was a radio on board, it was just an excuse to "clear the bridge".

Here's most of my original post from ScubaBoard2, made while this 'Board was down:
"Not to mention the fact that the divemaster gave rather extensive instructions about what to do should "you be the last one on the boat, looking back at all of us at the tiki bar with the giant bowl of margarita and multiple straws waving at you". The answer? "Dial channel 16 on the radio".
Heck, a Coast Guard certified boat isn't even allowed to operate without a radio."

It is, however, rather interesting, that the captain thought that this was a viable statement to make. Maybe we should have called the Coasties - that would have certainly caused some excitement!

Yeah...I was thinking about that. Actually it would have made for a great ending to a strange adventure calling the Coasties! Wow...can only imagine the drama ensuing on that one! Hmmm maybe that would have made them think twice about leaving poor Kim behind! :no Better luck next time! Hopefully I will get to join in on the fun on the next trip!

Happy diving!

I'm surprised more people don't view this instance like below.

I'm with ya on that. Weird that he is totally ignoring it as far as I know.

The divers got a $40 trip ... this is a good price for a 2 tank night dive.
And one of my people did not want me to pay him at all for his trip so I fully refunded his $$ and he spoke to the owner and the owner of the shop did not charge him.

I had a wonderful weekend with you guys sooo the boat left 16 min early and left 1/2 the group in the dive shop ... the rest of the weekend was wonderful and I truly enjoyed ever second (except sat night) ;)

He's definitely not interested in discussing the issue publicly or privately. I sent Pavan a firm but polite email several days ago and haven't received any response.

Any way you slice it, that's just a ridiculous way to do business! In doing so, the owner would need to give the money back to those folks and then he's losing money. A loss that he's likely to try to recoup from boat op.

The bottom line of successful business is to put butts in the seats, move lots of merchandise or provide lots of folks with a service. If this shop and capatain all thought that they were having a bad day then, I wondering what they're thinking now!

The shame is, when a business gives good service, a few people will write about it but it isn't that big of a deal. Businesses need to pay heed that when people think they got bad service, it will turn into a BIG DEAL...between ScubaBoard and the other online group, look at how many posts have been made about this!!! And, it happened Saturday but this is still a very active topic.

Remember when just ONE person had a bad time with Cristal Clear Charters earlier this year and they ended up offering a FREE two-tank dive to any ScubaBoard member? I took them up on their offer and they were most gracious before, during and after the dive.

In this instance, a whole bunch of people experienced a bad time but the operator isn't saying a peep. He just doesn't realize how much money this will cost him down the road from bad publicity. I for one will never go into that shop or on that boat...there are too many other AWESOME shops and boats here in South Florida.

We have a saying here..
A happy customer will tell 5 of his friends.
An unsatisfied customer will tell 20.

And those 20 will tell 20 more and so on, and so on, and so on.
