After all of the effort that Kim put into setting this up, with no interest but to enjoy diving with fellow Conchs, it is pretty sad to see that it has turned out so poorly.

That's too bad about the mess-up with Dixie Divers. Pavan is ok but I never took him up on his offer to dive off the Lady Go. If I gotta pay for a seat, I just go with Jerry at Parrot Island.

a friend of mine had issues with Dixie some time back - so I decided to never use them (on that occasion it was the behaviour /attitiude of the staff on the boat rather than the owner or store staff - but regardless, it put me off.) - but not having a radio ? - I find hard to believe - I think the Capt was just being an **** - which is unforgivable.

so many other good ops to spend my money on

I read the thread on SB2. I try to keep an open mind about SB member complaints, but it sure seems like this OP, and especially the captain really did a very poor job. Leaving divers behind in the shop who have *checked in* is rather inexcusable.

In the future I would suggest that you ask the FL Conch's for advice before booking an OP in that area. I know that a LOT of the FL Locals dive boats out of Lauderdale, and Deerfield on the regular, and I've never had a bad experience taking their advice.

I find it next to impossible to believe that they would not have provided a firm departure time upon check-in! That's just really poor service. :shakehead

They should have also been able to fill the tank in the HOUR that they had prior to departure, or told the diver that they were not going to be able to fill it before departure.

Thanks for the information. I regularly dive in that area (on vacation) and am always keeping a proverbial ear to the ground for bad ops as I would HATE to ruin a vacation dive (hmmmm warm water!!).

Hemlon:
Where is Dixie Divers located? (I want to avoid them on my next Florida trip.)

There are several shops that have the name of Dixie Divers as they were at one point affiliated. That is not longer true, so let's not give the impression that ALL the locations were somehow involved.

The shop referenced in this thread was in Deerfield. I think the Boat was Lady Go Diver, and the captain was Nick Palmer.

Keep in mind the information presented is one (or several divers) points of view. It is always nice to hear both sides of a story even if this one does appear to shine a very gloomy light on this OP.
