Last night's dive at the bridge was just about perfect (although short at 93 minutes) viz about 30 and water temp at 81.7. I went straight to the sponge garden and it was packed with wildlife...could have spent the dive there but my buddy wanted to do the whole circuit. Glad we did because I saw a huge giant hermit crab and got to watch an octopus push a starfish away from his lair....looked like he was doing bench presses.

You are using the wrong pointer to place in the IMG tags...

This is the one you used and is broken.

If I take the quotes off of the above, it shows like this

You should have gone to the "direct link" and copied this one

That was just a glitch of the board

I will be visiting family in Boynton Beach and would love to dive the Blue Heron Bridge. Looking for anyone who might need a dive buddy and would be willing to show me the site - I'll be available most days between July 18-25th. I'm an avid underwater photographer, divemaster, CPR/Oxy/AED certified, and a volunteer aquarium diver!

Also would appreciate recommendations on boats for some day trips - leaving Boynton Beach or another nearby area. Please feel free to PM me. THanks, Jason

So *that's* what it's called. Those pics look *very* familiar. I'm guessing that there's something about a night dive that makes that spot more accessible and less dangerous?? You must now spill it, Jim. :D

Just think of how empty the west span will be when they open the east span :)

Remember, it's going to take a little while for the east span to recover... But, that is where most of the nudibranch, jawfish, sailfin blenny, southern ray, eagle ray, etc. shots were taken before the span was closed :)

I made my first try at the east span on one of my "slack low" attempts last week. I had nothing to compare it to, so I'm not sure what to think. The viz was poor, as I suppose is to be expected at slack low, though current wasn't an issue. They were still doing some work under the bridge off to one side, and I really could tell the difference between *their* noises and small boat motors. I found it very dark and scary under the bridge - and shallow. I got the oogies and didn't spend much time under there. I spent a little time around a small wreck, but there wasn't much to see there. Come to think of it, there wasn't much to see at all on the bottom in the area I explored. I wasn't sure where the "channel" stops, so was hesitant to wander over towards the boat docks. The current was also starting to pick up, so I ended up wandering back westwardly. I *did* see my first pikeblenny (a nondescript female) but managed to have a dead camera battery. :banghead: Oh, well. I memorized the spot, should I ever make it back over there. I'm hoping that I was just looking in the wrong places, or maybe that low tide is just not the right time to find cool stuff over there.
