well i have an opportunity to pick up a pair of steel 80s or 100s brand new and i'm wondering what you guys think. it appears this MI group has a lot of gear knowledge so i figure i'll trust experience here. i'm figuring i'll most likely take the 100's but am wondering if i should hold out for the 120s.

I've dived PST's Hp100s and they're fantastic singles tanks. The 120s are very long (quite a bit longer than Al 80's). Who makes the tanks, and are they HP or LP? With the sizes, they sound like the HP tanks.

they're press steel (if thats spelled right) 340 for the 100s. i'm thinking i'm going to hold off and wait for the 8inch 130s i have on order, but figured id put this out here.

if anyone wants them, let me know i'll grab them before they go

No you wouldn't, I would. ;)

If you shop around you can probably beat that price, and avoid tax at the same time. I'm not sure what stock is like on 100's around the country, but it doesn't seem like a deal you need to jump on immediately, especially if they're not just what you want.

I just picked up a pair of recent-hydro E8-130s for $700, with bands and manifold, and a pair of the stock DIN valves for $40 more. Deals are out there.

Brand new (mine are on order), PST E8-130's are running a little over $400 a tank. PST's are becoming like Harley's. They can put you on a waiting list and charge a fortune for the tanks because everybody up here likes them. Once they get them they don't get rid of them. The exceptions would be the HP-100's because many techies move up to mix and want the added gas at depth.

my lfs guy figured betwen 350 to 400 each for the 130s. so i'll just wait. i'm 6'4 so i can take the bigger tank.

I'm not 6'4" and I own a pair of them. I would not mind picking up another one as well, I paid $334 per tank last summer.
