I’m pulling all the valves and boots and all the junk will go to recycle.
Two of the valves I almost couldn’t get out. I looked at them and they were US Divers but were oddballs made in France. The threads were galled and then I remembered that at one point in history there were some valves that were problematic and the threads weren’t exactly standard. They would thread in but were ever so slightly off and were very tight to turn for the last 1/4” before they fully seated. Those went straight into the trash.
One J valve is a beautiful older US Divers all metal and very nice.
I’ll go through them all and pick the best ones.

I pulled off all the valves last night and two of the steel 72’s are beyond saving. The vinyl coated 72 is junk and one other 72 that is HDG almost made me vomit when I looked inside 🤮😢
I might run a brush on the bottom just to see how bad but if it’s as bad as I think it is I won’t bother any further. Too pitted. It’s a crying shame too because all of them were stored empty with the valves open in rainy cold wet Norcal. But one was perfect inside with a fresh bead blast job??
Anyway, I ended up with 4 usable tanks out of 13, which will get cleaned up, hydro’d, vis’d, valves fully rebuilt w/ new burst discs, and finally put back in service and donated to divers in need that are part of our urchin group.

Yeah they make mine so easy to carry I almost flick them over my shoulders picking them up
