I would think that a sinus infection can occur from multiple sources. As divers, we probably suffer sinus infections more so than the general public. My wife and I use our own gear and my wife came back from a long trip to the Philippines a few mounts ago with a very serious sinus infection. It effected her hearing and required antibiotics to get rid of most of it. A little still lingers. Best course of action is to see an ENT specialist as quickly as possible for treatment. I was fine and think the problem might have started with all of the time in airplanes.

Indeed, I never use the mask rinse bucket. I do use spit for defog and sometimessurface with mask full of mucous, ergo, not using the bucket is mannerly/considerate. That said, even if I didn't spit, I wouldn't use the bucket for my own sake!

I have suffered long periods of respiratory infections and the source hasn't always been known to me. You have my deepest empathy.

Are you a smoker?
No. not a smoker, never had been. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the reply. I have a second visit with my ENT next Mon, We'll see if he puts me on some more antibiotics or recommends other things to finally get rid of it.

No offense meant. Just a question because I used to be a smoker, many moons ago.

Have you tried any sinus rinses?
