I did it using two *simple* knots...

this is the way I did it on my most recent pockets (FifthD bellows) too. It works nicely.

or B- use smaller cord and run both ends thru hole and tie knot too big to pull thru the hole. I've done both, prefer B.

Well, the DC bellows pockets that come with the suit have a very small hole on the side and near the bottom for...what I assume to be...drainage purposes. My only fear about using this is that I'm going to have run a pretty long piece of cord to get up and over the pocket. That seems like a potential no no.

WW's idea, however, seems very doable...what do you guys think if I were to make a small hole on the trailing edge of the pocket and use option B?

If there's no hole at the top you'll need to make one. I would follow the advice given and use a soldering iron and add a SS grommet to prevent unravelling or pull through.

Yep...Ben's idea sounds like a good one. I love not having to learn the hard way.

SS Grommets...is this a Home Depot thing? A McMaster-Carr thing?

McMaster Carr for sure, home depot maybe.

I just have one loop on each pocket so that stuff doesn't get tangled in another loop. I have my loop on the front edge of the pocket and pull everything out... get what I want... and stuff the rest back in.

As for SS grommets... just get nickle plated brass... can be had at any canvas/awning shop.

Yeah...I'm beginning to think that maybe the best option for me is to have one loop. I think I'll use the back edge of the pocket though.

Not to hijack my own thread, but, I would be interested in hearing an inventory of what's in everyone's pockets. is ABOLSUTELY EVERYTHING clipped off? Always with a double ender? Again, I've seen the WKPP pics of what's in George's pockets, but I'd like to see / hear from you guys.

GIVE ME EVERYTHING IN YOUR POCKETS!

btw, Ben, that is an awesome site with the various knots...props to you.

1. EMT shears in homemade clear PVC tubing sheath
2. Princeton Tec strobe (for surface use, and attaching to liftbag if used as a "help me!" signal device)
3. Spool for SMB (SMB stored in backpak on backplate)
4. Safety sausage with a whistle tied on using nylon line - if I'm going to be needing my safety sausage, I'll be wanting the whistle
5. WetNotes
6. Spare double-ender

Everything is clipped off with a bolt snap which I ziptie to the item, except for the spool (double ender) and WetNotes (just slipped in).
