You can get a SS grommett kit at most Boat Supply stores (ie West Marine,or Boat US) for about 10-15$.

For most OW dives...

Right Pocket... stuff I will use:
Wetnotes - attached bolt snap
Lift Bag with pre-rigged spool - double end bolt snap.

Left Pocket... stuff I might need:
Shears with vinyl tubing over blades - double end bolt snap.
Dive alert - double end bolt snap.
p-valve bolt - attached bolt snap.
spare mask - double end bolt snap.

I have a loop of #24 line through the binding of the wetnotes from end to end... a small bolt snap is on this line and can slide freely anywhere along the line.

Left pocket- spare double-ender, shears (the big OMS ones), compass

Right pocket- wet notes, spool

When diving dry, spare p-valve bolt added in right pocket.

On "bigger" dives, second spool in right pocket, spare mask in left pocket.

UP,

If you squish one end of the tubing flat, you can punch a hole in it, and use this to ziptie a single boltsnap onto the tubing. This way you can leave the tubing sheath clipped off, and just pull the shears out to use - saves fiddling with a loose piece of tubing and the double clip.

My DUI Pockets have a pretty big D ring in them that serves as a rigid clip off point. And the integrated stiffeners it makes it easy to get in and out. All stuff clipped off with SS snaps

Right Pocket: Stuff I may use

* Wet notes (new addition to replace biga$$ slate)
* Buddy Line
* Extra double ender

Left Pocket: Safety stuff I hope I won't need

* Dive Alert
* Mirror
* Whistle
* Closed-Circuit Safety Sausage
* EMT Shears
* Spool (will migrate to pocket after I get a grip with using it...)

Is it a hijack if you divert your own thread....? Hmmmmm

most folks around here don't use the ring, some even remove it. We add cords instead. DUI pockets are nice though.

I've sort of gathered that. There is likely a good reason for that (there usually is) but I haven't seen it yet. To me, a rigid, predictable, easy-to-locate clip off seems to make more sense.

I can find it easier, clip off is a breeze... Help me understand why someone would lop off a big solid D-ring and and replace it with bungee?

Thanks -
