rjack, I'm in Hawaii. thanks.

Anyone else who doesn't have anything positive or constructive to post, don't.

certified for two years and Less than 200 dives and already a pro! whats it like diving in a class-room enviroment all the time? but hey, almost a thousand posts. I bet your myspace is blowing up!

lets pretend that I said I was interested in doing some deep dives and tri-mix. would someone please offer me some insight to thier dive profiles and some links that would benifit myself and others with simular interests.

ONO - you won't get any reasonable tech diver to give you their profiles - your NOK might try to find us. However, if you are bound to DIY, look to Dixie Divers web sight in Ft Lauderdale. They give sample profiles for their deep wrecks.

But recognize we aren't trying to hijack your thread - we're trying to save your life, man! We've had too many fatalities this year already!:(

Ono Brah,

Go talk with "Scuba and Dream" (Sherman) on the Hawaii Ohana sub-Forum, and with Jo Hjelm of Island Divers Oahu when he gets back from the Philippines. . .

This was one of my Chuuk Lagoon Profiles on Air Mix (and I don't remember much about the dive because of the extreme narcosis):

(2004 Truk Odyssey Liveaboard Trip, old San Francisco Maru Dive Profile now re-calculated w/ Ratio Deco):

190' for 20min. Air mix w/ eanx50% Deco Gas
Ratio Deco 1:1, 20min. Deco Time plus 20min Set Point Adjustment equals 40min. Total Deco on 50%

190 20min.

180 to 120 ascend 30fpm

110 1min.
100 2
90 2
80 2
70 5 50% switch
60 5
50 3
40 3
30 4
20 10
10 -> or from 20' to surface @2fpm (10min.)

Need: Dbls AL80's, Stage Bottle AL80 w/ Air Mix,
Deco Bottle AL80 w/ eanx50%; and an X-Scooter.

Here...from V-planner.

The profile is about 1% of what is required of you from a trimix class. The profile is the easy stuff.

Have fun and try not to kill yourself. Diving air to 180' in this day is nothing short of foolish. Diving air to 180' with no training is borderline attempted suicide. But, what do I know, I only have a few years of experience with a few hundred dives, many of which are actually in the 150-180 range in water below 40 degrees.

Here are a few questions for you.

What is your sac rate?

How do you calculate the gas you will need for a dive like this?

Can you calculate your CNS clock or OTU's?

What is your deco if your Duo dies and how do you time it?

What is your deco if you loose your O2?

How long can you stay on your O2 before you need an air break?

These are just a few issues classes will address and things you really need to know to do dive in this range.

Here is a hint Ono....

Be careful, make sure you know what you are doing and why.

I dive with a 30 on me, another tank hanging off the deco line at 20ft. both filled with O2. there is also a tank at 100ft just in case. I go off the padi charts jk, I use inand charts and back it up with the diverite duo computer.
Scared sh#tless of equipment failure so I have as many plan "b"s as possible.

thank you all for the constructive posts. If you read any of mine I state a desire to become tri-mix certified and came to this forum to find out more about it. not once did I claim to be an expert. Just that I have more time in the water than most of you who are hating.:mooner:
thanks to Kev, soggy and jtivat for sticking to the topic.
Kevrumbo, have you taken a class from Jo before?

"arguing with someone online is like competing in the special Olympics. even if you win you're still retarded"

Onohunter,

I realize you may be enthusiastic about starting deep diving and deco, but the collective wisdom of the divers on this forum exceeds any one diving career by 10fold, and belitting individual posters does not change that. They are simply looking out for your well-being because they've seen people before foolishly die doing these types of dives. By taking the training, practicing the skills in a controlled environment, and having the knowledge to calculate your own profiles, then you lower your chances of death/DCS/emboli dramatically.

Put it this way.... Some people will drive their car through their neighborhood without a seatbelt, some will even drive on the highway. Doing a 200 ft deco dive without practice, training, and knowledge is like hopping in a formula 1 race car without a helmet, restraints, or even a driving license......

Yep . . .took a Wreck Class with Jo on the Sea Tiger. He brought a lot of the technique and planning concepts from his GUE Cave 1 Class and incorporated it into his Course Syllabus for Wreck Penetration. Also, check-out this thread with Sherman and his team, who just did a Sea Tiger dive today. . .
