SS Back Plate Question

I just put together a DR SS BP and Travel EXP Wing. Everything was going along relatively smoothly, and fitting quite well right up to the point where I decided to go with the SS Sex bolts vs the supplied plastic stuff. With everything fitted including a single AL80/HP100, I've observed the bolt heads touching or even diggin into the sides of the tanks, which I do not appreciate.

I'm quite sure there's a very simple solution to this problem I've not thought to apply. How can I use the SS BP without scratching/gouging the tank coatings? Is an STA the answer?

A STA is one answer. Oxycheq makes a Mini STA that I like. Also a wing with built in roll control may give you the needed clearance.

We do NOT recommend using these stainless steel assembly screws to secure wings to backplates. The metal screws will scratch your tank, so instead use the plastic versions.

Some people prefer to omit the assembly screws and this does not cause a problem. In our experience, the plastic versions also work every bit as well as the stainless steel versions for mounting accessories to backplates and they are much lower cost.

Thanks! I will swap out the steel sex bolts for the plastic bolts. It just appeared the plastic bolts were not as "robust" and might be prone to failure. I'll make the swap back to the plastic bolts.

The sexbolts are only a convenience factor, holding the wing in place when a tank and straps are not keeping the assembly together.
