I AM IN ON THE CYPRESS DIVE!!! Just wake me up guys, like at 6am if you are talking that early! I will set an alarm too. Yknow, last year we all talked about going to bed early and we had a really long night lol! But I am game to get my butt up. I don't have a rack on my rav, but I have lots of bungie! I am looking at possibly doing one more dive at Vortex when we get back Sunday, it just depends on how tired I am. If anyone is interested in joining me, let me know.

If anyone needs to pitch a tent, there will more than likely be plenty of spaces near the sites 8-10.

I have a rack on my Explorer. Can we put a canoe on that?

bring some compression straps to cinch it down tight and some painter lines for the front and rear to tie down to the bumper....

a canoe upside down going down the highway at 50-60mph acts like a big sail or airfoil. You don't want it taking flight :D

Personally I like the NRS compression straps. they work great, don't stretch and I've never had one come loose at all, even driving on the freeway at 80mph with two kayaks on top.

Ratchet straps, never had one fail, ever!

I had some compressions straps come undone before, they were no-name, probably having a lot to do with it, but never a problem with ratchets! :D

I hate I'm going to miss this. But, I got my AOW this month so I am happy now. :) Dive once for me everyone.

You could always grab Brad and go dive Clear Lake... Maybe he can find his mask! :D

haha I'd have to find, he couldn't see without a mask. ;) Ohh, I can do a search and recovery dive! Wouldn't that be fun. With these LP121s (singles) in 11ffw, I could search for a few hours. :)

Take your camera with you, I want underwater shots of vortex and topside to please sir. Video too. If you need batteries, come over to my house tonight. I'll hook you up. (Of course, if you don't take your camera, can I borrow it? Either the pool or Clear Lake, I want video of me diving. :))

Ya'll have fun and dive safe this weekend.

I've had an 'el-cheap-o' ratches strap come undone. but the better ones you should have no problem with. I've seen the 'no-name' compression buckle straps that other used fail before also... (luckily I've never experienced that...)

I use the NRS ones for my kayak. They work great. For a canoe though, because it would catch much more air, I'd double up a set if using compression buckle straps, or go with the stronger rachet sets (like bugman mentioned).

For reference, here are the NRS ones I was talking about. I've got the 1" ones. if you're going to primaryly carry a canoe instead, I'd suggest the stronger 1.5" ones.

They put the length on the strap also with their name. so a NRS-15 is 15foot for example.

These don't stretch, even when wet and under 80mph stress for 4 hours.
