It is too wide to hold comfortably in one hand and let it spin freely. When I wear dry gloves, the hole is a tad too small. At least for my anthropometric parameters.How is it not handy?
I always have the flag, the Manta Jr is what I use, with DGX hi viz orange dacron line2 hands or one-handed is a good question to ask...........Manta Reels = Can't break it & Worth every expensive penny for them !!

A primary reel with hundreds of feet of line seems excessive to carry around for shooting a bag. More than likely it will end up being left on the boat. Where a small spool will always be there. Assuming you don’t loose it of course...

I definitely do not want a 400'+ "primary" reel . Like you said....I'm not going to want to lug something that size around.
