I recommend SBDR. They can get another boat if necessary, I'd bet. Their main boat can prbably accommodate 10 or so, from what I remember seeing. Their small runabout boat is an extra one. Have fun!

Those 5 were the only pics of SBSR that I took. I have video, but can hardly post that.

Some people I met there from Germany reported seeing a whale shark the size of a building pull right up to them that afternoon while they dove. Another such giant was reported sighted from the porch of SBDR while I was there. I think your likelihood of seeing one is high.

I didn't go diving myself (got an inner ear infection just before the trip). I just snorkeled from shore, but that, too was beautiful and teeming with life. My only encounter with anything but some Tiger sharks was a Great White the size of a cadillac who pulled up and eyeballed me within arm's reach in a post-storm murky bay in Maui. It was so murky all I saw was his tennis-ball sized eye, a corner of his mouth, and the color markings of his skin. It was enough for me. I screamed so loud and long friends swiming far away heard it. I hardly had enough breath left to stammer-yell, 'Sh-sh-ark!' and to high-tail my fanny out the water. The next morning (March 1991) in the paper it was reproted that the same day in that same Maui bay a shark bit a surfer. I like to think my scream drove my guy away. Instead he probably just took a good look at me and said, "Bony. Not the tasty seal I was hoping for", or maybe, "Those masks tend to stick in my craw".

Sorry to say I'm a wimp about sharks. Their brain is too small for their bodies (and teeth), in my opinion. The whale sharks sound harmless enough but I still think my breathing would get shallow were I to have an up close encounter with one of those gentle giants. Say Hi to one for me when you see him.

that is about 1km closer than i'm willing to get to a great white w/o a cage or aquarium in between... WOW

could it be he figured your screaming might give him an upset stomach? hehehehehehe

I vote for Peter's Dive resort. Long in dive ops experience.
Thats fine with me too. Since I'm not local, my vote shouldnt count in determining which resort to use. I'll leave that to the local pasaways :)

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, it could be - I certainly would have done my best to give him an upset stomach. He probably did come away with a headache, anyway, since I screamed in his ear.

I'll think twice about entering murky, shark-infested waters again. Not much to see out there, anyway.

Happy Valentines' Day.

No Spoon on this tour?

oh, and *bump*

(I'm going mad at work, so reading about this holiday and imagining my Tubattaha trip in April in my version of therapy).

Cheers,

come to think of it, Sogod Bay Resort may be a good choice after all. If the others would agree we can firm up our trip before the end of the month. I'll post the details on deposit once I receive Phil Mcguire's reply. We have until March 31, 2006 to confirm and remit.
