Southern Leyte Diving (December 2006)

I'll be at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort next week, may stay there a while. 4th trip to S. Leyte. Hope to see whalesharks, they are there now. I'll give a trip report.

At the moment, I should be here for another year and a half. Of course, I've had four attempts in the last year to get me to move to different locations so I may end up leaving earlier.

Sorry guys, cant go earlier than December, its my in-laws' 45th wedding anniversay. My wife will have my *cough* *cough*, if I dont show up. Please dont let my arrival in the PI play a factor in the dates. If earlier dates works out well for local PPDers, then you guys should go. I'll just hit you up for a dive in Anilao when I get there.

About the Cebu-Hilongos ferry (Oceanjet), I'll keep you posted when something comes up.

Does Jojo arrange any diving as well? I've been thinking of doing Bohol too.
As for the ferry to Leyte, we (including wife and kids) will be taking Cebu to Ormoc and its a 45 min drive to Baybay and Baybay to Padre Burgos is about 2.5 hours. Hopefully, Oceanjet will resume service to that route by December.

For those of you who are interested in taking the ferry from Cebu to Southern Leyte, if Ocean Jet isn't running, there's another boat the "Kinswell" that also leaves Cebu at 5:30 PM and docs in Bato (even closer to the diving than Hilongos). It's not as nice a ship as the Ocean Jet, but it's a good back-up. When heading back to Cebu, it leaves Bato at 8 AM (2 hrs. later than the Ocean Jet departure from Hilongos). Nice thing if you don't like getting up before dawn.

Dont worry im holding all the rooms while Caros arranges everything and we are trying to arrange one or 2 transfers for the whole group as every transfer attract a US$20 bank fee from my account. We still have plenty of time April will be fine.As this is Xmas and the group will have exclusive use of the resort no refunds will be given on cancellations.
