Sub, when are you going to bohol? I have a room reserved for 12/30-1/4.
It would probably have to be on the week of the 17th. After Padre Burgos, I'll be go back to Baybay, Leyte for a couple of days before heading back to the States.

midwestdvr:
How long are you staying in the PI?
It'll be for 3 weeks, Dec 17th - Jan 6th and back to work on the 8th. How about you? You'll be there for 6 weeks, right? sweet. As for Bohol, the week of the 17th is more doable for me.

@subzero: Gues you'll just have to tell me how the dives in Bohol are when we meet up in Leyte. Yep, staying for about 5-6 weeks. That's why I like my job, I can afford to take as much time off so long as I can afford it.

I just returned from Southern Leyte and it was great! We were booked to stay and dive at Peter's Dive Resort, but due to a booking snafu, they had no rooms available. So we went down the road to the next place - the newly opened Sogod Bay Scuba Resort, and were so happy we did! Owners Phil, Ron and Jema were warmly welcoming. The place was pristine, they have preserved the reef around their resort from fishing so there is plenty of wildlife and a healthy reef. The divers saw a whale shark very close up, octopus, seahorses (in the night dive) and of course, lovely, colorful fish. I snorkeled off the shore in front of the resort and just a few feet from shore, saw beautiful coral and fish in clear water.

On another excursion, owner Jema took us up the road a jog to walk up to really great waterfalls and swimming hole. The falling water gave a nice back massage and we had whooping fun high-diving off the upper falls into the pool below.

I highly reccomend Southern Leyte, Sogod Bay for diving, snorkeling, falls and relaxing. The accomodations were comfortable and clean, the place low-key and friendly, and the rates great there at the Sogod Bay Scuba Resort, which officially opened Feb 1, while we were staying there.

Unfortunately I have lost their business card, but the owners' names are Ron Parkes (from London), Phil McGuire (from Australia), and Jema Manaatad, from the Philippines. Their address is Sogod Bay Scuba Resort, Lungsodaan, Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte, Philippines.
Hey! looking below, I see a posting from Phil McGuire and the resort phone numbers are:

Ahhh, it ws nice there.... it's tough coming back to this Michigan winter!
