i don't go diving without my CELL PHONE

So with the mouth/jaw swelling I'll be thinking the guy slipped and took a nasty fall on his jaw or the side of his head. The airway is the obvious priority so I'll do whatever I can to open that up. I can't intubate, so maybe if I shove my finger in there and push the tongue down I can open it up enough.. if nothing I do opens up the passages, and I'm in the middle of nowhere, and this dude can't breathe at all...

I'm going to grab the scalpel out of my first aid kit, swab the area a bit with a prep pad, and do my cricothyroidotomy and find something to shove in there. Snorkel, maybe.

Fat lotta good it'll do ya when you're out of range...

i don't go diving where my CELL PHONE is out of range unless
(a) the boat has a radio; or
(b) there's a ranger station/store/shop/house nearby with a phone
