Seriously embarassingly idiotic mistake?

That's not nearly as dumb as what someone did last week. They rented a full set of dive gear, took said dive gear to the Gulf of Mexico, and assembled the gear. They thought it'd be easier to put the gear on in the water, so they threw the rig overboard. It then sank to the bottom, gone forever.

That was a really expensive dive.

Why not just dive or freedive down after it?

In terms of the transmitter and water, most transmitters have a water proof pressure sensor but it isn't guaranteed. In other words they are designed for high pressure air but *may* be able to deal with water.

Part of rebuilding a 1st stage is hooking it up [to a tank] w/o any port plugs and blowing air thru it [see Apeks manuals] several times to clear any debris/moisture that may be there.....I'd take the battery out of your wireless xmitter and leave it open for a few days [w/o the battery in] to give it time to dry out......Reassemble everything/hook everything up and do a 'see trial'......Try it and see.......
