What about the red seals?…

What about the red seals?…

I like them best when they are cask-conditioned and served on draft.

Just got mine last week! Interestingly, I got an email from the FDA asking me for information relevant to a medical device. All it took was a quick email to straighten that out.

I've never used a dry suit, so trying to figure things out (on land and bathtub. I've signed up for an official course so I won't kill myself in open water).

One question: I ordered with the telescoping torso, but all I see is a flap of fabric around the waist and a clip strap that goes through the crotch. I don't see how it actually "telescopes", as the way the fabric is sewn, there's overlap, but no stretch. I'd imagined kind of a stretchy area. Is this how it's supposed to look, or is it possible that mine came without telescoping?

There are a lot of us that don't have dry suit course under our belt. Read some stuff and go somewhere shallow is all you "need".. but a class isn't horrible either (I'm just making the point that it's not "needed"). I'm not dead yet.

Telescoping torso is the top 1/2 pulls up so you can get into it. You'll fold over the waist and then clip it (so it sort of resembles a pair of pants and a shirt). You're right, the suit doesn't stretch. It would be a nightmare to get in / out without it.

@Jersey1971 no course here. I read a lot and am a proficient diver. Adding the drysuit without enough weight and ill-fitting boots was a nightmare. Once I corrected for my math errors on weight and my boots arrived the suit has been a dream. I'm still dumping and filling the suit too much but that will correct itself in due time.

So not clear exactly what "telescopes". It's basically a large diagonal zip opening that I'm able to wiggle over my head and arms. It works fine, but I'm not clear how this is different from a regular suit with a large diagonal opening.

When I read "telescoping", I imagine something that changes length, either through a stretchy fabric or through some sort of corregations. This is just flat fabric.

If you lay the suit out all the way look at it. It's much too long to fit you, that's because it's telescopic. There is extra fabric around the mid section so you can pull the neck and arms over top... make sense? It's just longer than it need to be when it's on you.

You fold the excess fabric over itself….
