My first SeaElite 300 BAR I got in the early ’00 time frame and the back of the valve was curved and had no “dimple” to screw a yoke point into (not that a yoke or donut would fit in the first place). It was also polished to a mirror-like finish

My second, probably late ’01 time frame had a flat back and a dimple, but the deep 300 BAR threads. It now sported a frosted, bead-blasted finish. My guess is that SeaElite went to one casting and they just mill down the face of the threads for the 200 BAR version to realize some economies of scale.

My old manifold looks beefier than the new one, but the new one does not look weak by any stretch of the imagination.

I've gotten all my replacements through the LDS that carries Sherwood prducts. They're the Sherwood rubber knobs, just have them order some for you and see if they'll give you a break if you're willing to wait until they place their next Sherwood order to cut down the shipping cost.

I think they run in the ballpark of $3 each.

EE has them in stock and they are still $254

Divers Supply is still backordered and they guesstimated about a week and a half, but could be longer. They are coming from overseas, etc. etc. The guy I spoke with said they have 100 coming in and only about 10 or so of those are already ordered.

To wait or to get the Halcyon...decisions decisions...I guess I will wait it out a bit..

The guys in my DIR dive club swear by these bands...anyone ever heard of them or have any comments about them? They are like $50 a piece plus shipping and would save a ton of $$$.

Speaking of knobs, wheres a good online source for those rubber ones - i got the diverite 300 and 200 bar manifolds this summer (200 wasnt by choice - it was a backorder issue as well). But they did come with some small hard knobs that i wouldnt mind replacing.

I got mine at www.covci.com

I don't think he has them specifically listed on his site, but was able to get them for me. Don't remember exact price, but they seemed inexpensive... especially for the value they add... in fact, in relation to any scuba gear they were very inexpensive.

...an opitical illusion cause by altered perception due to the intense desire to get more because you paid more.

Some differences in the isolator housing but not much. I have to say you're right on this, my imagination............

I ordered the Halcyon 300 bar manifold and the Highland bands for Al80s from EE. That should match up with the 40# wing I got nicely...I will let you know how it all works out once I get it together.

It'll match up perfectly.
