Actually I just left the shop from setting up my doubles. We had my Sea-Elite manifold and 2 Halcyons all recently received from the various companies. The isolation bar on all three were different lengths + or - a 1/16 which leads me to believe that halcyon might be using several different companies as suppliers for thier manifolds.

I can't believe you used Sea-Elite. Spread it around and use other on-line talk sites for scuba for knowledge if you must. Not jut the almighty SCUBABOARD. You get wisdom from personal experience right???? What's the rush???

This is coming from me ck.....Why didn't you go SCUBAPRO!!!!

Same reason I didn't use Halcyon....Price. Like the local commercial says.

"Because price sells cars."

Scubapro? Do they even sell 300 bar manifolds?

I've got a Sea Elite that's a year or two old. Right post, 1 7/8 turns, left post, 2 turns and isolator, 2 1/4 turns to open.

The new word is that the Halcyon and Sea-Elite are not the same, at least not any more.

I was at my LDS last night putting my doubles together with a couple of the techs and one of them decided to take the manifold apart and compare it to the Halcyon which he went and got from the stock room. They look simular but not the same. It takes 1.5 turns to open and or close the valves on my new Sea-Elite and 2.5 on the Halcyon because the unit (sorry don't know the terms) that the knob opens and closes is much longer in the Sea-Elite.
Flipping through the Diver's Supply catalog that came in the mail a couple days ago (http://www.divers-supply.com/), and the Sea Elite manifold lists, among other features, "Quick 1.5 turn On/Off" :)

This may be why they were out of stock for awhile, the manufacturer was retooling for a faster valve.

After having done DIRF at brownies third lung this past
weekend with a sea elite manifold, I can say definately
that they are different.

Also BEWARE of the knobs and quality especially on
older ones!!!!!

I recently built a set of al80 doubles w/sea elite manifold
bought over the internet.

Doing valve drills during the class underwater, the
left post knob sheared off in my hand!!! Luckily it
sheared off still in the open position and we did not
have to abort the dive.

We replaced all knobs with sherwood ones and also
noticed bad springs and a bad isolater valve and replaced
those as well.

I'm not going to try to save that $85 dollars from now
on.... ( sea elite 169 vs halcyon 254 )

just a thought,

the quicker it turns on, the quicker it
rolls off if you hit the overhead....

I wish they made manifolds with quick turns
on the right post and isolater but long turns
on the left post.

Has anyone tried doing up one of their own like
this by matching different valves?

Further evidence that the Halcyon and the Sea Elite are the same, they both had exactly the same recall on knobs:

http://www.halcyon.net/recall/

If you had a knob shear off and someone from Brownies let you believe that that Halcyon didn’t have the same problem I would be very disappointed.

Also I don’t consider a fast roll-off a problem, but I do consider a fast turn-on a feature!

(hmmm, unintentional double-entendre :)).
