I got the scubatoys HP spacer because the transmitter wouldn't fit with the regulator hose on at the same time.

When I try to screw in the spacer with my fingers, it feels like metal hits metal and it just stops hard. The o-ring is also kinda showing on the side...then again it's curved so I'm not sure if this is normal due to design or if there's a problem.

Here are pictures (after just slight pressure with the wrench):

Does that seem right?

...that HP O-ring showing on the side makes me nervous, I'll bet once pressurized that HP O-ring will extrude/blow....any way you can relocate the LP hose next to the transmitter and install it on another LP port?

I would try another approach. That mechanical interference is not good for making a seal. The o-ring must compress the correct amount. And it is possible, if you tighten it up more to damage the threads of that Hollis regulator.

Scubatoys may be able to offer you a fix. They have a lot of experience.

Thanks guys, I didn't feel comfortable with it either.

Thank you for confirming. I hadn't thought of extrusion which could definitely be a possibility. I can relocate the LP hose, but that's for the second stage and the octopus is going to be occupying the one next to it...maybe things will be different when I get the cressi octopus in. It will all depend on how thin the cressi octopus tubing is. But I need both the second stage and the octopus on that side.

Good idea with the 6" hose, I hadn't thought of that either. I'll either try that or RMA it and get a different brand since miflex don't work with these either. It's a shame though because I got this regulator new for $289 and they are now back to $575.

Maybe I'll take it into my LDS tomorrow and see what they say and, if they feel the same, if they can give me a deal on apeks, scubapro, or aqualung.

Somebody else must have a spacer to fit that thing. Have you called Hollis yet? I believe you can contact them through this board. That's too good a unit, and a deal, to take back.

Not very familiar with a hollis; however, is that also a pressure port on the base under the hollis dc2 logo? Depending upon which way you set up your first stage, these bottom ports can also be used although many people choose not to. Just a thought, like I said I have never held one so I am not sure how it is made. I looked for tech specs online but I have not been able to find any yet.

I think the bottom of the DC1 can be converted to a 5th port, but not the DC2 as I understand it from the Hollis website.

I'll call Hollis tomorrow about the spacer issue. The unit seems nice, I'd rather keep it.

I had bought it from diverightinscuba.com for $289 but their prices for all the hollis regs are above $500 again. Scubatoys has one dc1/212 left right now for $299 in case anyone is interested.

I would get that one and return mine since it shouldn't have the same issues, but to go through that effort I might as well see what my LDS can do for me since servicing will be easier. I'll try the options i mentioned above first though.

The fitting will work on some of the first stages out there but as we can see not the Hollis.... You would need to go to the 6'' hose. Just give us a call and we will swap it out for you. Besides having the 6'' hose makes it nice and streamed lined and you don't have worry about the dive operators lifting the tank with the transmitter.

Thanks

Big Joe

Thanks Joe,

I'm going to think a little about what to do. I could go to the 6 inch hose, or return this one and go to the M25/S600 that can be serviced right next to my house.

For the record the LDS put the regulator on a tank with 1000 psi and the o-ring could be seen bulging out a little, so it was an obvious no go.
