@Angelo Farina , any idea of the thread pitch on those metric M3's?

If you happen to know, that'll save me the trouble of going out and measuring...:D

For lurkers, metric screws use the distance in mm from thread peak to the next peak.
Imperial threads, as you know, are in TPI, or threads per inch.

I did already post: M3 with pitch 0.5 mm, which is the standard pitch for M3. So it is a very common screw here.
The problem is the small cylindrical head, it should be just 4mm diameter, whilst normal M3 screws have a head of 5.5mm.

We need DIN 920 Brass screws in M3 x 0.5mm. DIN 920 have a reduced head size.

10mm or 12mm length ?

If I measuring the length correctly, the shank length beneath the head is about 10.5 mm. In this photo, the M3 x 0.5 mm is on the bottom, and the Impartial 4 x 40 is on top.

Interestingly, all my Imperial are hex or Phillips head, while the metric is slotted.

while the metric is slotted.
It's not because it's metric, but because it's a small diameter fillister head. No wall thickness in the head for a reasonable sized hex
