Not the most scientific of measurements, but my new 109 sure feels much heavier than my 156. Sure enough by 11.5 grams. Thinking most weight is located within the adjustable breathing knob. Good to know it doubles as a dive weight.

156 early 80s
109 not sure of age.

Sorry for bombarding the forum. Currently recovering from surgery. Should be cleared to dive very soon.

If you want to know why you have different weights between your 109 and your 150, just take off the exhaust tees and compare them on your scale, then you have your difference.
The older exhaust tees were from rubber, the newer from whatever plastic and lighter.
BTW, just received today another BA, and to my surprise it's a true 156, the one of the 1st generation, first one I found
Best is, it seems to have never touched water, just lousy stored.
Last pic is a true 156 of the last generation.

Beautiful BA! What poppet did it have? Mine came with the blue/metal stem with the non replaceable seat. Currently installed S poppet and very happy with the performance. I went with the durapoppet on my 109, but planned upgraded S poppet conversion soon. They are my go to regulators for all my recreational diving.

Just stop! Haha I look forward to learning about them. In another life I was ASE master diesel technician and had more than normal exposure to valves and the general inside workings. I'll let you know when it gets here. We will take it from there.
Thanks!
Well this little dude arrived today! At first glance seems to be in very good shape. Not sure if I will get to it today or not. Will take pictures after tear down/cleaning. Also, help with locating service kit would be appreciated. Thank you for walking this slippery slope into the D series with me.

Also seems to breathe and function nearly perfect when hooked to tank.

You're quite brave, @Tr4lover! I have never opened up my D400 (which I purchased new ~1994). My three balanced Adjustables and G250, yes. But not my D400!

Let's make sure it goes back together first lol. Very good outlines on step by step service for the d series on this forum.

You're gonna love diving that d400! Congratulations in grabbing a nice one.

PS: It "looks" like the repair kit, including poppet is available from this European source for $20.00. The bad news is shipping is $35. for one or for the three they list as available. If you or anyone else wants to go in on this with me to minimize costs on this non renewable resource let me know.
If anyone thinks there may be a compatibility issue with this kit and a metal orifice d400 please let me know.
