The part that really stinks is trying to get anything out of them via a counter-suit since they are in the Maldives and I suspect it would be quite hard to get a judgement enforced there.

...but at least divers could boycott the Maldives dive industry if the government/courts of Maldives 'plays stupid' and remains uncooperative.

If the government of the Maldives is so lax in thier regulation and enforcement of the dive industry there in regards to boat safety/compressor issues then shouldnt a boycott be in order anyway?

This is an interesting defence - Waihopai three walk free - crime - national | Stuff.co.nz - wonder how much applicibility it would have in a case like this?

"The three men readily admitted attacking the base, but said they were driven by a belief that the satellite caused human suffering and their actions to shut it down, if only temporarily, were lawful.

A jury in Wellington District Court took two hours to acquit them of all charges yesterday. A similar defence – known as the greater good defence – has been run by protesters in Britain, Ireland and Germany. "

Thanks for sharing this. Very interesting indeed. I grew up with a different set of values and morals, so this would not be a defense for me. :rofl3:
