wetrat:
Alix was a girl from St. Croix
On land she was really quite coy
But once in the water
She was suddenly hotter
And more forward than Helen of Troy!

v. nice, ratman... but...

i don't think that's how you pronounce St. Croix

here's my go at it:

Alix was a girl from St. Croix
who very seldom said "wah"
since she was all grown up
and could cook, dust, and mop,
and swim in the sea or the spa

(dang... now if only i could make it
about diving)

There once was a girl from St Croix,

Whoes buddy had every known flaw,

Though his name's H2Andy,

And his skills were not dandy,

He at least could quote her every law.

Umm. I think wetrat is right. St. Croix rhymes with coy.

I'll admit most of the people I met in St. Croix were Continentals, but they pronounced it St. Croy. St. Croix may once have had a French name, but the influence is Dutch/American.

Looks like you are correct. LINK

Gee, thank's for wrecking my limrick.:05:

There's always room for new ones .. but I don't think anyone can beat wetrat's St. Croix. :D

OK wait.... so I was right? Thanks for helping Rick, not my side of the continent. I do know how to pronounce Kahoolawe though!!

dang... ok.... i was going with the French pronunciation of "croix"

actually, i knew this guy whose name was spelled
Francis Yacth, but was pronounced "Throatwarbbler Wilson"

There was a young man they called Rotty,
a dashing and rakish young yachtie.
While diving the bay,
a bad meal came his way,
and he spent his SI on the potty.
