i loved the behind the scenes **** on into the blue..

the fact that they were real sharks is really impressive... and paul walkers story. about how he missed the mask that landed in front of him, and it was gone.. like that.. and they never saw it again..
awesome film

ok, the thread about the fins jessica alba wears has turned into something on movies.. os i am kinda starting a new thread about movies..

mods, you can move this to where ever you think it is most appropriate.. i couldnt figure out where to put it..

anyways, movies with diving..

what was your favorite and why?

clearly, i am on an 'into the blue' trip.
since 99% of the bodies in that movie are hot....

Favorite - the Deep. But I noticed this while browsing Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...8946375-8188909?_encoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=130 No one else seems to have picked up on it.

The movie that was one of my all-time favorites as a kid growing up ... Creature from the Black Lagoon. Real vintage dive gear if I remember right. That was the time when cheap, somewhat corny Sc-Fi movies were all the rage. Blobs from outerspace, Giant gilla monsters, giant spiders, giant ants. Ah, growing up in the Cold War '60s and '70s. What an interesting time.

As far as moivies that feature diving and that include plenty of dive footage The Deep is hard to beat. It's nice that it's in a fairly recreational/ adventure setting so as a diver I can relate to it. I never clocked it but it must be close to 50% bottom time.

Underwater! would probably be second for having plenty of footage and the vintage twist. Of course it was made when that was SOP diving.

OMG! I think I've seen that movie! Was that originaly a B&W movie? Where they find the sunken galleon but have to fight off the shark hunters, and end up giving them some of the gold anyways?

Classic movie. Cheezy, Ricky Ricardo type actors, but classic.

Mr.X:
I found a bargain basement movie at Walmart called "Beneath the 12 Mile Reef". Lot's of sponge diving, fighting and a perky young blonde. It features a young Robert Wagner as the "Greek" and a host of long departed actors. Best sequence is treatment for the bends using ice. Brrrrh. X

This is he movie that started it all for me. I was nine years old when when I saw that movie; the underwater world grabbed me at that point and never let go. I'm now 63 and still diving strong all because of a Greek hardhat sponge diver.
Any of you guys remember "Boy on a Dolphin" where they got narcosis and DCS mixed up.?

OH man THE DEEP!!! That was what initially sparked my interest in diving (AND reading novels since it was one of the first I ever read cover to cover)

The bad part was when I first saw it, I was severely out of shape and a heavy smoker etc... just a mess, so I never pursued diving, then when I got my act together, I figured I'd give it a shot and BAM!

Anyway...Life Aquatic is funny...Open Water has moments...I hear that Sphere has some underwater in it, but I haven't picked it up yet....

Sounds like the movie except it was in color, I don't think it was colorized after the fact. The underwater stuff was kinda monochrome.

The one I saw was in color too, but the colors seemed 'odd'.
I thought it was becuase it had been colorized, but maybe it was just the way it was made.
