I'm unclear why you showed the photo and asked if this might be one of the stolen ones, if there is no serial number shown so no way to answer your question.
ll there is a number in the picture, is it a serial number, I don’t know, is the small space at the bottom a serial number?? I have no idea, to difficult?

How would swipe vs keypad matter?

You need to clone the magnetic strip of the real card. Easy if it was read by a skimmer (e.g. at gas pump) and not at all easy if it's just a number purchased on the 'net.

Word is getting out. Someone posted a Teric on a FB group which seemed to be to good to be true and several of us jumped on the scam thing.

There is a big update.

I learned today that Blue Planet, a dive shop in DC that was hit by the scammers, was visited by agents from a federal alphabet agency. A fellow SB member had seen a suspicious Teric posted for sale on either ebay or FB. That SB member contacted Blue Planet. He also contacted said alphabet agency’s DC regional office. They asked what his interest was. He told them his interest was as a consumer, divers are a tight knit group, and he had seen this thread about the scammers. SBer sent the feds a link to this thread.

Very glad the feds listened.

Was told today that a shop in the Boston area was recently visited by what appear to be the same scammers that hit shops in the Midwest. They originally wanted to buy one Shearwater with a credit card, then changed it to four. The owner was onto them and told them cash only for four. They said they’d come back with cash but never did.
