So I had my first encounter in Miami with SAND FLEAS (shut up!). I want to amputate my legs. I am never going to Miami again. No doubt this happened because I scoffed at the man on the beach trying to rent me a chair for $10/hr (!). Karma is a b***.

I don't even care about the itching. I have suffered far worse. What I want to know is whether it is possible for me to have brought these things HOME WITH ME (I didn't declare them at customs...)?! Do they infest?? Are they VISIBLE? (would I even be able to tell if I HAD brought them home with me??)

How am I going to afford my G250V IF I HAVE TO PAY FOR AN EXTERMINATOR! :shakehead:

This was the teller. I am a cold water diver forever.

Due to the lax Canadian immigration laws the Miami Sand Flea will receive resident alien status. Next thing you know they will be sneaking across the Michigan border with back packs full of BC Bud and preparing to corrupt poor unsuspecting american teens. Wow, look what you have done. You have created an international incident.

:) :)

At least I think they are sand flea bites...

And, obviously, I have now been googling the crap out of this critter and reading about all these horrible flea diseases... some of these pictures are disgusting! Google is the worst.

Sand fleas and dog fleas aren't on the branch of the genetic tree.

I wouldn't blame Miami. It is more likely that you got this infestation from the people you were associating with at Invasion.

When you lie down with dogs...................... :D

What are you complaining about? You have No seeums up in Canada that are just as bad. Wimp.
(just kidding) I do see some tourists, chalky white, that are ate up with them. They still bite us locals but you get used to it. I'm as white as most tourists most of the time because here in Mullins River, which is sand fly heaven, I wear jeans and shoes. I don't get the itchy welts but they're irritating as hell when they bite. I looked at one under the microscope the other day to see the bear trap jaws they must have. Nasty little buggers.

Generally the only solution is to amputate before the infestation spreads, if they make it to your head they will lay eggs in your ears and the larvae will feed on your brain until they are full grown.

Not trying to scare you or anything....
