I am sorry to hear about Maverik. I have a lab also and I know how they steal your heart. Mine is only 5 but I know the day will come when we have to say Good-bye but it doesn't make it any easier. I don't call mine stupid....it's knucklehead!
Take care
Butch

The same happened with our black Lab 4 years ago... we were exactly as you are now.

Condolences to you and everyone who is feeling your pain.

On our side... some 4 months later, we rescued a Bichon before going to the pound. The poor thing was accused of biting everyone.

It turned out that their 2 year old continually pulled his tail, they left the dog outside in the heat until cramps set in... and then, they got a Terrier, which took the spot light and bullied the smaller dog.

All in all, we needed to fill the vacancy, and this little rescue needed love and attention. The match made a huge bond for our family and the little guy.

Never had a small dog before... but now, I don't think I will have another big dog... these little guys don't yip-yap, and they travel on trips well.

Things will get better, after you spend time grieving and remembering...

Love, to you and yours,

ack, that's terrible

very sorry for you and your good dog Maverick

Hang in there Cuda, Very sorry for your lose. dogs and cats become like family members. I know how your feeling, When I've lost dogs in the past it was like losing a child (not that i'd know what that really feels like, thank god). Our current dog is like a third child.

Sorry about your loss. It's always hard, especially when you have to make the decision yourself. But sometimes that's the way it works out and is really the best decision for the dog. My wife and I have several fur children. We just lost one a couple of months ago, also 13 years old. The one before that, 3 1/2 years ago, was also 13. I guess it's a common age.

Hang in there...and get another dog. It won't replace Maverick, but it will help ease the pain.

We lost our dog of 13 years...Maverick...A Black Lab. He was put to sleep around 4 this afternoon...My whole family was present at the vet's office to say good bye

Mav had a massive tumor in his lung and was drowning in his body fluids.

The house is so quiet with out him...even his constant panting....He was a great dog. We affectinately called him "stupid" cause of his antics

Joe

Sorry to hear about your loss. I just found out today that my cat, Caiman (11 years old) has a tumor near his heart and lungs as well. The lymphatic system is draining in his lungs ... definitely not a good scenario. I cherish the time we have with our animal pals and love those great memories.

Kind regards,

My condolences as well. It's never easy to lose a member of the family, and they are that. I find that it helps to remember the long years of companionship and remind myself how much joy my pets have brought, and continue to bring me.

I am so sorry for your loss. My babies are my life, and I dread the day when something happens to them. I'm sending my thoughts and prayers your direction, as well as super big (((((HUGS))))). Just think, you guys gained a guardian angel today!
