I'm so sorry for your loss, Joe. It's so hard, I know.

In 2001, I lost my shepherd, Kavik, to a type of bone cancer at the age of 13. I also had to make the decision to have him put down. That was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but I stayed with him and held him while he went to sleep.

Last July, my Australian shepherd died of lung cancer. Thank God I didn't have to maked the decision to have him euthenized. He died in my arms on the kitchen floor, just slipping away and going peacefully.

It's always hard to lose a pet, since they become so much a part of your life. Just know that while they were with us, you gave them a good life and made them as happy as you could.

It's taken me a long time to write this post, since I keep having to get up, go into the bathroom and wash the tears from my eyes and blow my nose. Dang it all!!

My sincerest condolences,

Chantal

Joe, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm getting misty here, myself.

Time to go hug my babies.
