great to see al this interest!

WVDiver - I am in shepherdstown and even teach p/t at the university. Only place I have been around here is Millbrook which is just a regular ol' quarry - there is also a small lake at the state part outside hagerstown which allows diving - I might be interested in that Fla trip - need to talk to the wife and see whether it looks good - spent my last birthday (2-16) snorkeling in Coz so being wet on my birthday sounds like a good plan :)

I sometimes have to go to Charleston for business, so a Summersville dive might work in :)

my time is hugely limited most of the time because of 3 kids, FT job, PT job

I have been researching local salt water diving and there are some charters out of Indian Rive Inlet DE and of course Ocean City. There are actually quite a few wrecks and such out there. Not as nice as morehead city, etc but closer. The IR charter is a sixpack and not sure about the OC ones. I am also interested in Cooper River to find giant teeth, etc. Which is doable in a weekend. My LDS uasually goes there as well, I do not have their 07 schedule yet

I can get access to free lodging for a number of people on the delaware shore if we decide we want to put together an OC or IR dive

You the man John.:D I'm always up for free lodging. Keep me informed I would love to do any of the dives you mentioned, especially in Cooper River and giant teeth.:eyebrow: Keep me posted regarding your upcoming dive plans and I will make as many as I can afford.

I just got the flyer from Blue Marble divers in hagerstown and they are planning the jan 1 trip to mt storm - i'll get more info and post it - they are also havong a diver's open house/xmas sale on 12/16 from 11am 5 pm

they are right off interstate 70 in hagerstown

any other central va muck divers on?

Hi,

I am Ivan and I am from Smithfield Va.

I just got certified this past summer and have about 25 dives. I am working on my AOW and Nitrox now. I presently have my deep and wreck dive done along with my nitrox dives and I just took the test for nitrox.

I have all my equipment with the exception of a pony set up and that is next on my list.

Planning a trip to Key Largo in Late January with some friends.

I spent most of my money on equipment last season and now I plan to spend more time diving this coming year. I will probably do alot of Va. and N.C. wreck diving.

I will be looking for excuses to go diving so ya'll don't hesitate to give me a few.

haha i didn't mean it like that. I was trying to say that i would really want to dive with people who live around here but i wont be here for much longer. But yeah miami will be great, scuba diving is the main reason why i chose to go there.

Steve Smith here representing the Atlantis Rangers Skin and Scuba Diving Club - the oldest, largest and most active dive club in the DC area. We are about to release our 2007 dive schedule with dives every month of the year and pretty much every weekend from May through October. See our website www.atlantisrangers.org for more info on the club.

Steve, thanks for the link.

esp. interested in the Lewes De shipwreck. My uncle lives there and has recovered over 2000 pieces of pottery from the beach

HI Guys,

Good to hear from Doc Intrepid again. I really missed getting to dive with you this year. It's been awhile since you hung out with us. :D Maybe we can change that this year.

WVD sent me a pm and gave me a heads up onthis thread. I'm glad he got it going. We need more area divers to get out there and make connections.

I think this year I am going to try and focus on the great lakes and get a little more experience up there. I am already looking at some charters starting in April. I hope to see some of you out there.

I also would like to chime in on the beaufort and wilmington areas as really great places with some great dive shops and good charters. I can't wait to get out there with the Sand Tigers again.

I hope to see you guys out there.

Paula

Hi All:

I'll be up for diving every May through October weekend in 2007, as long as I'm in town, using charters from Dive Quarters, Lynnhaven or OBX Dive. I live in Virginia Beach, less than 20 minutes from the docks. I'll can also car pool down to Nags Head and Hatteras for anyone who wants some NC wreck diving. I have pretty extensive experience on all the offshore wrecks around Virginia Beach, except the stuff that was "discovered" or sank since 1992.

I also have a passion for beach wreck diving, both locally and in the OBX. I previously worked a beach wreck in Norfolk that looked "interesting" in terms of historic value and has yielded some nice artifacts. The site is actually 2 wrecks, a 1960s era fishing vessel on top of what I believe to be an 18th century sailing vessel. The last time I dived this wreck was 1992, but because of it's location it has remained undisturbed. I'll post some pics shortly so readers will know I'm not talking BS. :eyebrow:

I also like working the "debris fields" of offshore wrecks. If one knows the orientation of how a vessel sank, there is usually an "arrow" of debris that leads to the wreck. Wire dragged wrecks, such as the Santorie, also have significant debris fields off the wreck site, many of which are never visited by divers. I like doing dives where we can hook into an edge of a wreck, run a line real out a significant distance, followed by swimming a long arc to "catch" obstructions away from the main wreckage. This technique can put you on interesting stuff that many people have never seen. For example, has anyone ever seen the lifeboat that was about 150 yards off the Santorie wreck?

Admittedly, I'm getting back into diving after a long absence, but I'm planning on spinning up pretty quickly. I've been doing new gear training all fall and will continue some "training" dives into the winter and early spring. I used to do deep air (130 to 200 FSW) with stage deco because we didn't have EAN, but with the development of tech stuff I'll be doing the IANTD courses through OBX Dive in the Spring if anyone's up to it. BTW, I like diving with people of ALL levels of training and experience in ALL types of environments. You don't need to be "super certified" and whatever "philosophy" you may have is up to you. Regardless of what you think, I'll respect it. Just don't bore me... ;)

I'm also planning on a boat purchase sometime in 2008 or 2009, because by that time I'll probably be over the charter boats. I live in a roomy house, have a 9 FT Brunswick pool table and an 8 person hot tub on the patio. Out-of-towners will always be welcome, as long as you're polite. Corona is my favorite brew and I keep a well-stocked bar. Besides the hot tub, my garage is my favorite hang-out.

PM me for contact info... Let's GO diving!
