If I didn't have one, I feel like this could be a killer deal. I'd be on my way.

@-JD- I can help out but it is not until after the next two weekends.

I'm probably less than 20-30 minutes from that area...

Emergency crash point...

Wow.. good deal for @-JD-

Just for reference I paid $2400 for mine and I'm thinking this one is newer. The shroud is a little bit of a downer, but maybe she has it who knows.

@-JD- I won't pretend to be any kind of expert, but if you do go down this route I'll help you any way I can. I have a few tips to look for if @rhwestfall wants to go look at it

Model 1S3B-3 for the SA-3 and Model 1S3B-6 for the SA-6...

Thats the new model "Designation" from a few years back...

I looked at that post.... I see a newer model Rix "SA-6B" . Both coalesers...gas engine.... missing shroud... has the newer 8 blade 39 Degree fan blades.

I also see that it has no corrosion. That compressor looks to be in VERY good condition. I would suggest that that compressor has VERY few hours on it given how late a model it is.

WHAT I DON'T SEE....

I do not see a filter tower... figure that into your cost basis if you want it for scuba air.

I do not see a BPR or PMV assembly.

I would suggest that if your looking for a good compressor, at a decent price, you consider that Rix.

I would contact the seller, explain the missing shroud, filter tower, PMV and BPR and make a reasonble offer keeping that in mind.

If I needed another, and had the funds, I would probably jump on that @1K.

I guess another reference would be that after I paid for the Rix I also had to get a filter tower ($425), and a lot of fittings.. say at least another $600 to set it up the way I want with 2 whips.

With all that in mind I was also thinking start @ $1k and go from there.

It is tempting. 12 hour round trip, to western NY, in blizzard season, is a bit "dissuasive."

Kid is in (well, will be tomorrow) Ithaca, but has been home since mid December. So I can't even use "I miss him" as a partial excuse.
Blizzard-shmizzard.....I live in Jamestown, about 1 hour south of Hamburg, and its been nearly 40f every day the past week. Its mid-January and the ground isn't even frozen. SMH.

Bob, thank you for that! I may take you up on that, depending.

Sure, just shame me why don't you ... 😭 :rofl3:

My friend, they have words to describe people like you ... I think "Enabler" is one.

Oh well, what the hell. I messaged her asking to talk. I guess I'll see where it goes ... thanks for the err encouragements!

ETA: I wonder if iain/hsm would come on an inspection tour if I buy the beer?

BTW @rob.mwpropane how heavy is your unit? In case I have to lift it - remember I'm "old" and am cruising on 2 bad disks with another one already blown and trimmed ... I've got to think these things through.

Around 120# I think. With me and another person not a problem, but I'd have issues loading by myself. Want to try to keep it level because of the engine (oil, fuel, etc).

If it was me driving I'd offer @rhwestfall a really nice lunch to come help load up. He might also have some insight being a fellow compressor owner you could rely on.

@-JD- if / when the time comes, we can talk over the phone and I'll give you a list of things to look for before startup. Just some pointers I've gathered from the manual and Iain.

They are super simple machines, just need more TLC then other compressors but nothing I would consider hard.

Specs say weight #155 lbs with Honda 8hp gas.

2 people with alittle oomph can move it around ok. I have had multiple back reconstructions and have little issues with moving it around on the boat... I just make sure I have another set of hands if it needs to be lifted or carried.

JD...nobody here is an "Enabler"...we are simply saying...that it is a phenominal deal regardless of condition or rational. You NEED this compressor...you MUST have this compressor. Join the cabel of compressor owners who are the elite group of individuals who can convince themselves no matter what..that owning a scuba compressor allows me to " Save money"...." not rely on the inconvenient hours of a dive shop for fills"... or just plain be able to waste hours in the garage...ie, "I have a convenient excuse to drinka beer in the garage while filling a tank"...lol.

But no matter what...remember... you have a dive compressor...suddenly you will have ALOT of "friends" who will drop by and "oh by the way"...can you fill these 3 80's, top of fthis set of doubled lp103's, and give me a cave fill on that set of sidemount LP85's in case I wanna hit Dutch Springs this weekend?"

Ain't life grand??....:yeahbaby::yeahbaby::yeahbaby::yeahbaby::yeahbaby:
