I was just surprised to hear a woman admit that a man had the right spot!!! (Ducking and running)

In reality, I soak my regs, rinse them off, then attach them to air to purge any wa-wa the soaking might have let in. I dry them off and then store them in the AC for a couple of days with the First Stage inlet (yoke or din) open to the drier air (AC dries the air out). THEN, I will carefully, gently, (add your own descriptive text here) and loosely coil the hoses into my regulator bage with the first stage inlet SEALED and the second stage adjusted to the least resistance. There they sit in their wittle pwotective bags just a waiting for me to get them out and play with them.

:p

Still fairly new to taking care of scuba equipment, so I'm definitely no expert. But it make sense to hang the reg to dry after a dive (gravity helps drain the regs and octo) and store loosely coiled if space is a factor. Leaving your BC, wetsuit and regs hanging in the tub makes for a difficult showers.

The "deluxe" BC hangers I've seen with the spot for the 1st stage usually have places to coil and hang hoses to alleviate stress.

I read the scubadiving.com reg maintenance post... which is really good BTW. One person wrote that he stores his regs with the purge depressed. That kind of surprised me.

Hey DivernVA and all,

Depressing the purge valve relieves pressure on the poppet valve. Less stress on the O-Ring. Thats why I back my Micra all the way off to it's least resistance. My Oceanic reg has the built in function to depress the purge and keep the pressure off of that O-Ring.

:p

Thanks, Netdoc. I take it you make sure everything is dry before you store the reg with the purge depressed.

Large Diver and NetDoc, LOL! Good one(s) guys! haha

Yes, anytime you have a regulator that has an adjustment valve on it, it should be stored with the knob turned out all the way.

Hey DivernVa and all,

Thats why I leave it in the AC first for a couple of days BEFORE I seal up that first stage and stow the whole assembly. The AC will suck moisture out of the air and so your regs will dry faster. If you close up your second stage inlet BEFORE it is dry, the pre-filter (the scintered bronze piece) will turn green and corrode. When you have them serviced, the shop may erroneously accuse you of "flooding" it. So, BEFORE you even hang them up on those BC holders, make sure the inlet of your 1st stage is bone dry. Once you clamp it down, the moisture will have nowhere to go and will remain inside the regulator.

All this talk of AC is making me jealous -- no AC at my house here in Boston, and temps have been in the 90's all week (supposed to hit 100 tomorrow) -- ugh!
