I decided to buy a new one, as my current has some deformation in the first stage and you can't remove internal parts out of it. I'd like to buy sealed balanced regulator with cracking adjustment. Diving in California/Mexico and tropics. So here is my list:

1. Oceanic CDX5 + GT3
2. Oceanic CDX5 + Delta 4
3. Aeris Atmos Pro
4. Genesis GS2000
5. Zeagle DS-V/ZX
6. Sea Elite Tek X06 (looks similar to Aqualung Legend/ATX200, also where to service?)
7. Scubamax XR-2002 (looks similar to Sea Elite, also where to service?)
8. Scubamax RG-1002 (looks similar to Dive Rite/Salvo, also where to service?)

Which octopus to get? I'd like something similar to Dacor Viper, Oceanic Slimline, etc to be compact and bidirectional.
What do you think?

I would probably take the aeris upgrade offer on regulators and trade your old one in to get a significant discount on a new aeris. Not sure if any other companies are doing this. PM me for info if I can help.

I would use either the CDX5/Delta 4 or the GS2000. I currently use the DX4/Delta 3 and for an octo I like Oceanic's swivel octo, which I also use.

I used a Genesis GS2000 for a while. I have upgraded to a Dive Rite, that I love, but the GS2000 is a great reg. Its really solid and easy to adjust. I would recommend it in a heartbeat.

Which of these can you get serviced locally?

Thats a good question and one to bear in mind when purchasing.

Can I throw the FDX10/Delta 4 into the mix. I got one and the breathing on it is a dream plus the Oceanic back and lifetime warranty are second to none.

Yeah, it is nice to have local support on regs. I have sold alot of the salvo, aeris, and diverite regs. I have had no complaints on any of them. The diverite and the aeris regs both come with free parts for life so that is a big plus. Other regs probably do that as well, I am just familiar with the ones I carry. The tradeup deal would be important to me if I had a defective reg, I could unload it and make money on something I would be afraid to sell to another diver.

There are three regs on your list I would probably shy away from without local service options. The others as well as the ones I have mentioned most anyone can service. Salvo and diverite make parts available to the end user if that is a plus to you.

I think I can get service locally for the first 5 regs. Sea Elite and Scubamax should be sent to the dealer (Divesports and Divers supply) and they provide free parts for life. And the last one, I think is the same as Dive Rite or Salvo, so it's possible to get parts from them. Also what's a real difference between Oceanic GT3 and Delta4? Is it worth to buy Delta4, because GT3 is $100 cheaper?

#6, the Sea Elite Tek X06 has a first stage on it that is made by Ocean Divers in Tawain. Though it looks like a Apeks, it's not. I even called Divers Supply after I heard they were saying it was the same as a Apeks/Aqualung and asked them the same thing... They told me it was an Apeks knock-off. This sure does create some dis-trust here because it has the appearance they aren't telling the true facts.

Well it's actually very similar to the ScubaMax XR2002. Both are made by Ocean Divers. It uses the RG1009 first stage.

But it sure "ain't no Apeks or Aqualung". For them to be telling customers that it's an Apeks is a huge misrepresentation.

With that said, nothing wrong with these Sea Elite or Scubamax regs.

Also what's a real difference between Oceanic GT3 and Delta4? Is it worth to buy Delta4, because GT3 is $100 cheaper?

The Delta 4 is just a higher performance reg over the GT3. It also has the "dry valve technology" which is a new gimmick these days that many manufacturers are doing.

The Delta 4 uses the FDX-10 first stage which is a balanced diaphragm first stage with environmental sealing kit. The 2nd stage also has venturi adjustment not found on the GT3

The GT3 uses the CDX-5 First Stage which I don't think is sealed.

I think you'll find it more than $100 cheaper. MAP on the Delta 4 is $479. You can pick up a GT3 for $250.

In picking between these two regs, I'd prob pick the GT3 based on it's $200 cheaper, but that depends on what kind of diving you're going to do also. So that might make me go for the Delta 4.
