Don't know about everyone else but I couldn't stay all weekend long as the villamar required. that was my only concern.

I know Karim couldn't either, and if the other 2 couples come, I don't think they can either. So, that'll be a group of 8+ that are only staying 1 or 2 nights.

So, we scouted some places that accept shorter stays.

What kind of concerns? (Villamar) They have my ccard# (ready to charge to it I'm sure) so if we're changing hotels and class locations, I really need to know asap.. It would suck to get charged for a room your not going to stay in.....

BTW, I liked staying there last time. There aren't to many hotels that would have allowed us to be out BS-ing (loudly) into the wee am hours, or putting up Brian's tent for shade. Whatever the case, someone keep us updated. (please)

I think I'll pass on changing locations for now.. it was a thought, but after sleeping on it and talking it over with my wife, it just doesn't make sense to throw a wrench into the works now. Baited also brought up a great point about our gathering area at the place..

I'm thinking Part Deux at the Jax/St Augustine area would be really good. I very much enjoy going to St Auggie, it has one of the best atmospheres for a town that I've ever been to. In fact, I've been really wanting to do weekend at a Bed-n-Breakfast up there and if we can do a REEF Fish ID class on top of just being in the Oldest settlement in North America, that would be really cool.

Hey CBulla, just to let everyone know, my wife and I would love to stay at the Villamar so we can be close to everyone, the only thing is that the hotel doesn't accept a credit card over the phone for reservations, only a check and my wife and I don't feel comfortable giving our checking acct # over the phone. If anything concerning the dive changes, ie: location, please let me know, so we can cancell our current hotel reservation and find one closer. Looking forward to catching some bugs. Dive safe, Peace!

<ahem>
The oldest continually populated city (with people to match) in the United States

OK..this is really odd... they worked with us, no problem. This bugs me a LOT. I'm going to give 'em a ring and chat to them.

They did the same thing to me, he wants you to mail him a check for one nights fee just to hold the room... This guys ok and all, but he gets confused as well as confuses... After I told him I'd drop the check off in the mail the next day, he called me back like ten minutes later and said never mind and just took my CC# like I had wanted him to do in the first place. Don't give up, it's not a bad place to stay.. I love that it's right on the ocean and thier aren't strict about non-staying guest coming over, using the pool and barbie. Most hotels wouldn't allow it.. I also liked that when we were there before, the room had a small kitchen. We saved a ton of $$ by not having to eat out.

Good luck, hope you get it all worked out... BTW, this is a "Mom & Pop" hotel, they even live upstairs. (If all else fails, ask to speak to his wife....lol..... she'll get you what you need)

Finally... Check is in the mail to Rose. I'm in.
However, I will be diving on another boat on Saturday morning. Will meet up with ya'll for the class.

So when are you guys unavailable due to this course? Saturday morning and afternoon, possibly the same on sunday? Anyone feel like night diving on friday, saturday or sunday, also monday is open too - just thought i would pose the question, respond back on this thread if you want.

Hi All, :happywave

I'm going to be around for the festivities that weekend. I'll be getting there Friday morning. I made a reservation at the Barefoot Place around the corner from the Villimar. I'd like to grow some gills while I'm there, so I don't know if I can attend the classroom session unless it's during a really short surface interval! ;)
