some of us are very interested in a nite dive while down there - saturday nite.
colin said he was probably going out at nite, but for bug-hunting.
so I'll come check out that thread and see if we can arrange a nite dive for the non-hunters.

simbrooks:
So when are you guys unavailable due to this course? Saturday morning and afternoon, possibly the same on sunday? Anyone feel like night diving on friday, saturday or sunday, also monday is open too - just thought i would pose the question, respond back on this thread if you want.

Ok, what is your tally on this get-together now? How many spaces are there likely to be free? We are considering it, (even if we dont manage to get an afternoon of diving in!) is the boat solely for the use of REEF-ID people or could the remaining spaces be bought out prior to this course?

check the calendar link in post 1.

A night dive would be for anyone to join in. The bugs collected would just be an added bonus. :)

I just checked the calendar and whilst the boat price is very tempting and the saturday AM dive would be nice to join in on whilst Becky is out doing the Chick Dive thing, i dont think it would be quite in line with our aims on a weekend (church sunday AM, replacing the morning dive). Ok, back to the original idea, find other things to do and dive that weekend whilst you guys are doing this stuff, night diving and partying when we can all get together! Will keep my eyes open for other things to do that weekend whilst you guys are in class and out doing whatever.

It still sounds like you guys are going to have a blast though and both Becky and i will still hang around and hope to catch you all to party that weekend!!!

However, what is the thought on a non-REEF ID diver tagging along on the saturday AM dive out of Hollywood???? ;) Dont need a guide, just a buddy.

Hey guys, I'm up for a night dive on Friday night or Sat. As far as bug hunting, all I need is a partner. Can someone please tell me if the check was recieved, for the class, or not? I want to make sure that I mailed it to the right address. If anyone is interested in a lobster hunting trip, there is one out of Jupiter, there is one spot left. Sorry, Cra2, I didn't tell you because I know that you aren't into that stuff.

Hey, we're in on the roach hunt...... I'm not into the hunt thing either (they just look toooo much like a giant cockroach, ewwww! ) but I'm definitely up for a tag along..I'm pretty good at spotting them, but make no mistakes, I'm not touching 'em!!! yuck!

I am always up for some bug huntin'. Just went to Lowe's and got me one of dem fancy dancy tickle sticks they sell as driveways pole. Yeee Haw! I is DIY!

well, I've never done a nite dive so I don't know what I'm talking about.
but... I assumed if you guys were "hunting", it would be different than just "diving".
Like, you'd have your heads in holes the whole time and not really getting very far or interacting or whatever.
I figured we'd be bothersome third wheels, stumbling along, lighting everything up and trying to stay close so we don't get lost.
That's why I thought there'd be two groups; the hunters and the non-hunters.
:)

Cra2, no worries! just remember, diving with photographers and bug hunters (or some of the Conch Diver members) give you something you don't usualluy get out on a boat or in a large group..... that is TIME to check things out!!!! no need to go rushing around looking for the life, stay still for awhile, everything that left will come right back.
I'm not exactly sure how many of us will be diving that night dive, but if it's a large group we will probably break off into 2 or more groups, each having their own buddies within their group.. Ultimately though, we will all still be together.

BTW, great DYI ideal Scuba_Jenny!!!

You would not be a third wheel. There are plenty of us who are not bug hunters (yet) and we still socialize with those that do.;-) Just join the ones that don't. No worries. Ultimately we are to dive and have fun.
I really enjoy night diving, there are critters that you wouldn't see during the day and the play of lights in the water can be spectacular. And there is nothing in the dark that you need worry about. I love it.
You and yours can dive with me anytime.
