The Narima Dive Center on Koh Lanta offers a DM internship with free training in return for a pledge to work or them. I don't know how all the finances work out but it could be worth some investigation.

My newbie status to scubaboard prevents me from posting the direct link. Google narima diving PADI divemaster internship

There are other places in Thailand making similar offers.

What is really "free" in such deals is that the DC gets an eager hardworking DM candidate to work for free for them.

Working for pay -- OR BARTER -- without work permits is illegal in Thailand. Sounds like a good way for the intern to end up fined, jailed and deported.
