If it was a fluke, it's now a two-days-in-a-row fluke. I got wet, but not from the she-p!

Oh, man; I hate that!!!

Well, I never like ending a dry suit dive wet, but I'd rather it weren't from the She-P, myself. Although, as I think about it, at least that's warm . . .

I am using the Uro-Bond IV glue and quite a lot of it to get a good stick of the she-p on me. I am having terrible trouble getting the glue off myself at the end of the day, using up the Remove wipes at a wicked rate. I am interested to hear about people's experiences using baby oil to help with glue removal. I've used it at the end of a period of diving, and it does seem to help. But I've not been brave enough to use it when I know I'll be applying the she-p the next day. It's so... well... oily! I'm worried that any oil residue will prevent a she-p stick. What do you find?

Any other glue removal advice - that won't affect a she-p stick over consecutive days of diving?

Baby Duck uses baby oil, so I am sure she can help.

I use another solution, which probably makes the medical types cringe: Goo-Gone. It is cheap, available anywhere, and I've used it for years with cuts on my fingers and such without any irritation / stinging. So, when I needed to get rid of sticky residue - and like you, was going through remove and burning money - I gingerly tried the Goo-Gone! Worked wonderfully, no irritation (or weird warm sensation like Remove), and soap and water gets rid of the Goo-Gone oils.

Mind you, that is not a Goo-Gone intended use, but it works for me! Just sharing the experience.

If you're not getting any irritation, why not?
I'd just do a test patch, as with any other product being used in a highly sensitive area.

I rub it off in the shower. I can't STAND putting the Remove stuff on myself -- I'm awed that anyone can. I'd use a flamethrower to get the glue off, before I'd use Remove again :)

Y'know, I did that at Vortoberfest. (couldn't find my goo-gone!) It took me well over half an hour and my panties still stuck. :yuck:

I was late to the party. :depressed:

I use baby oil to remove the glue from myself, even if I'm diving the next day. What I do is get all of the glue off of myself using the baby oil. When I'm done with that, I soap myself down with a non-moisturizing soap (think Ivory or any of the crap you can find at hotels....I always thought those little bars of soap sucked till I started using my she-p!) and rinse it off. Sometimes I'll repeat the non-moisturizing soap down just to make sure all of the baby oil is off of me. I've never had an issue the next day while doing this.

Also, I rarely (never??) take the glue off of the she-p if I know I'll be using it again the next day. It makes it ultra sticky, so I suspect if you had a tiny bit of baby oil still on your skin, it wouldn't matter.

^ yep, that's what i do, too. the she-p comes off fairly easily, i give it a rinse and leave it in the shower where it can drain & dry. i take a handful of baby oil & give myself a scrub with it, sometimes even using fingernails. then the non-moisturizing hotel soap on the not-particularly-soft hotel washcloth. the main casualty with this method is the tub bottom - icky! then another soap off in the morning, and i'm continuing to avoid lube...it seems to last longer than baby oil for some reason, maybe because it's silicone? no idea. i didn't stick to my undies or get glue blobs in them with this method last trip, though the cheap hotel toilet paper sure did shred & stick...sigh.

Thank you to all of the ladies that have contributed to this thread. I read it all the way through and learned alot.

I just ordered my first drysuit (Santi EMotion), and have specified that it be configured with a Halcyon P valve. Now I must prepare myself for the dreaded She-P.

I have a few questions:

1) What is your experience with shaving? I saw that one woman got the she-p to stick without shaving. What length do you find most effective? Clean shave, 1/8 in stubble, etc?

2) do the caps that people mentioned come with the she-p or should they be ordered separately?

3) has anyone ever tried this alternate solution? It apparently does not require glue, and I spoke to someone who knows the woman who wrote this web page, and he said that she is very successful with it. Amphibian Productions » Female P-Valve

Thanks,
Linda
