Will the Nitrox stickers cause your steal tank to rust? I put a sticker on my tanks in October after a Ocean dive, and did not rinse my tanks off.

I bought nitrox stickers from Leisurepro in case I ever needed to use them. Turns out I won't now, as I found a better solution. I was going to put sign magnets on under the stickers and make them removable. Never tried it, but thought about it.

We don't have any of those green and yellow nitrox bands on our tanks, our VIP/VCI stickers indicate that they are O2 clean. Haven't experienced any problems getting nitrox fills.

I think it's a great idea. That way when you throw the boots away you can get rid of that stupid sticker too!

:eyebrow:

Well, as steel tanks have rounded bottoms, having 'boots' make them easier to deal with on dry land/boat racks...also, the 'boot' takes all the 'wear-'an-tear' preserving the tank bottons from scrapes/scratches...and no worries, at least my boots are all the proper 'DIR commando black' color. :)

I was wandering if anyone knows a answer to my question?

You went diving in the ocean and did not rinse your tank off? They could blow any minute... thankfully, I don't live that far away, so, at great risk to myself, will come and get those tanks and safely dispose of them...:D

Stickers don't do much to tanks.. maybe prevent some salt water exposure in the area under the sticker, maybe, if you left a wrinkle in the sticker, let some salt water stay in contact with the protective coating... but either is minor.

I kind of like stickers. and have several of the "Voodoo gas" and "this is not your tank"

on my tanks.. and have for a lot of years

I find beating up the sticker is a lot better than beating up the tank surface.

Oh, All my tanks are Steel HP.

You do not need these silly bands on your tanks.......unless you are a victim of living in a place where there are few options for fills and they demand them.
Obviously, you need O2 percentage marked on them in some fashion, nobody takes issue with that.

As an aside.....
I live in South Florida.
Up here on the mainland, I am unaware of any shops that require those stickers anymore.
I am certain that there are still some ignorant cowardly dinosaurs around out there, I just will not do business with them, and warn everyone is shouting distance what ignoramuses to avoid.

The last time I was hassled about having bands on my tanks was in Key Weird.
A few years ago I was told that I could not bring my personal steel tanks aboard a particular dive boat without what they regarded as appropriately marked tanks...which was indeed hysterical as EVERYONE on the boat had Nitrox for a deeper wreck, followed by a deeper reef.
I informed the captain after a brief conversation and in no uncertain terms that I was not interested in purchasing his $6 band stickers or renting puny AL 80's from him, and that myself and the three other people with me would in fact be perfectly willing to depart his vessel immediately and would see to it that our credit card companies did not pay him for the trips we had already paid for, and intended to use again with him the very next day.
Given that our party contained 2 military qualified divers, 1 DM, and 1 Instructor and we were about to humiliate him before a crowd of sweet young things from Connecticut;
He relented rather quickly showing an uncommon good sense for a change.
I have grown to understand upon further research on this particular "captain" that he is a fool of the first magnitude, and he may not even be down there anymore.

Good Luck!

Does not like ignorant bullies that call themselves captain.
Loves those Captains that know their job.
