Take a look at Cavern, Cave and Overhead Diving Around the World

There have been several pictures posted of the conditions at Peacock a few days ago. One of the very seasoned veterans over there stated he thinks it will be 1 to 3 months before the closed systems are diveable again.

If I were you I'd contact my instructor to find out what he/she has in mind with the current conditions and then decide whether or not you want to train in very limited options, or to postpone later in the year. If you are fortunate enough to be flexible in vacation day options, I'd postpone, if you are blocked in I'd look at postponing caving and diving elsewhere, which you would need to plan for now.

Just my 2 cents. I know I would not want to be limited to Ginnie and Manatee for my first experiences.

Peacock I is siphoning supposedly, count it out for awhile. There are places to dive, but at the moment, its not one of them.

While Peacock1 doesn't allow OW divers vis was just fine under the duckweed.

That looks a bit brown on the top, but I'm sure someplace is divable regardless.

Peacock Springs State Park is currently closed to all diving. According to the river forecasts, a good part of Luraville could be underwater very soon. Will likely be quite a while before Peacock is diveable again. Last time Peacock flooded the river levels were lower than they were forecast to be in the next few days and it was closed for close to a month, I think.

From what some people were saying on another forum, waters gonna be over the Hwy 51 bridge roadbed!

Wow!

Which bridge is the Hwy 51? I just drive what I know while there and usually don't pay attention to route numbers..... LOL!

Holy Crap! Wow, thanks. Bill & Kathy better be packing up the dogs and moving to higher ground.

Wow!
If you recall, the road well past the bridge is on an elevated causeway - if the river gets out of the banks, it is close to flooding Luraville. :depressed:
