What are advantages of polyolefin against lycra as diving skin material? Is it just another shop's money-maker or something really useful?

Thanks.

Polyolefin actually has some insulation value when worn in water. It will also dry faster than lycra.

Are you looking at an Aeroskin product?

ive been diving in the tropics in p2 suits (aeroskins) for 10yrs now

it gives at least some protection against wind on the boat and it wicks away moisture better than lycra

hubby wore lycra once and changed to the p2 suits as on the boat he was complaining of cold

cheers

It def seems to hold on better than basic lycra, and like mentioned it has a bit of warmth factor. Also, it squeezes fattyduddies together better :D

I use mine for sun protection because I am lightskinned and it works for that very well. I don't think lycra has much UV-protection. I am pretty happy I invested few extra bucks on Aeroskin.
