Poll on DIR forum to Opt or not to Opt

I would rather see it a free for all and let anybody post with one exception. If a moderator feels a post has clearly stepped over line, they get banned for a week. Then just double it each time they misbehave.

I think the DIR people would be happiest amongst themselves.

Then if they wanted communication with infidels they could come out...on their own terms.

It is such an easy solution. The only reason it hasn't happened is because they like to discuss with everyone, up to a point, determined by them.--it's part of the bonding.

I think I´d stay out if it became opt-in (feel free to do a happy-dance)...
The way most of the "prospects" for opt-in have been behaving lately, I´d rather spare myself the aggravation of trying to communicate with them...didn´t there use to be an ignore-button on here?

Opt in. Too many folks wandering in from "New Posts" piping up and not realizing where they are. If we go opt-in, at least there will be more awareness that it is a special forum with special rules... and yes, I know there is a banner at the top, but too many people scroll right down to the text without reading anything at the top.

Perhaps if there was a way to insert that banner between every post, people would remember more...

I agree with you on the opt in. I think as long as there is a description of the forum that people who are curious will find it like the found Scuba Board and all the other fourms in the first place.

Thanks for voting. I think it is good for the mods to see the votes and get feed back from board members as they debate the future of the forum.

What would be the difference between opting in with a mod approval or without? Would there be some sort of criteria needed to be met if it went to mod approval opt in only??? Sounds like a lot of work for the mods if it did get to that point though.

How about a capitalist choice- randomly give say 10% of the board access and they could use it or sell it. Or perhaps the DIR forum could be pay to opt in? It could be the "go black" campaign!

I think the criterion they're considering is, "Are you Catherine, Thalassamania, One Bright Gator, or Daniel Aleman? No? You're in!"
